It's a PG-13 Rating, and Bridge panoramas are online...

This is interesting...

...Uhura's dossier identifies her simply as "Uhura" and not "Nyota Uhura", while the others are identified by first and last name.

Has this film used "Nyota" before? And if not, do you think that they are going to avoid giving her a first name at all?

When was her first name ever mentioned on-screen before?
No, it wasn't. However, I was under the impression that this film would canonize her "fanon" first name. I guess not. Perhaps she is simply "Uhura" and has no given name.

Which isn't a completely out in left-field assumption because they have been very clear that they have included events from novels and comics, thus "canonizing" them so I definitely see where their coming from. ;)

I like the Red Alert look a lot. It's much better than Voyager's very dark lighting.
See, I disagree. Voyager's bridge had ambiance. It actually looked like something you might see in a sub or such. This thing looks like it came right out of the Apple store.

There we go again.

Anyone can actually back up his/her words and post some pictures of Apples stores that look like the Enterprise bridge ?

I'm really curious, because the Apple stores I've seen look nothing like it.
Actually they are nothing special and look like every other cheaply build retail store.

I mean, seriously, how do these look anything like the bridge ??

Although I liked the lighting on VOY for Red Alert as well, when before VOY did you see the bridge darkened for Red Alert?

Isn't this getting a little tired? Seriously, it' the same stupid cliché that's been echoed time and again. It's doubtful that you've ever even been in an Apple store. Try something original, will you?

I remember when women's breasts in American films still warranted only a PG rating

What's that have to do with anything? I remember when I was nailing 19 year old girls. So what?

This movie didn't get a PG-13 rating for a boob.

Shit or get off the pot, as my Dad used to say.

Exactly. Apple stores look nothing like this set - someone said "Apple store" at some point early on and people have been parroting that ever since - evidently most have never actually seen an Apple store.

Someone had a famous quote about how most people's political beliefs come from second-hand information which they then pass off as their own without really understanding it or looking further into it. I guess that can apply to a lot of situations.

Doubtful. TMP is 30 years old and the bridge of the refit (and the refit herself) don't look antiquated, tacky pr corny, in fact it looks quite futuristic.

It looks how a "future" would look like using design technique from the late 70s.

Ergo, antiquated. Your mileage may vary.

I don't like it very much. Even after seeing it, it's still hard to tell the layout, which is something the ENT-E bridge suffered from too. It looks like a maze, a bunch of random shapes thrown together with steps all over the place. It looks expensive, but that's about it. Meh.

I didn't really get into Trek until the mid-90's, but the TOS bridge always looked better than that TMP thing. Those round radar screens look really bad. And I didn't see TOS until after the TOS-movies, so it's not nostalgia talking. I wish they'd gone with something more like the TFF bridge: big and impressive, clean, and with a good layout.

It looks like the viewscreen is a walk-around panel just as I thought, so at least the window theory is finally dead.

I agree with you ''Squiggyfm'' But I would say ''PAINFULLY'' antiquated! I don't want to sound mean, but come on! really? Futuristic? I dont think so!

I just took the tour and I do NOT see the viewscreen as a walk-around panel. I see areas beside the viewscreen that go further back and I see the saucer hull out the viewscreen WINDOW.
Sort of like this:
outer hull-outer hull-outer hull

Hey, I know it's crappy drawing, but it's the best way I know to express it.
