Make a new series, set 1-3 years after the end of the dominian war. Something like cardassia, the klingon and romulan empire is now part of federation alliance (former ufop). Most of the alpha quadrant is at peace, so talks of exploration is back on the table.

Going to add more... ship, story and stuff like that, one thing is for sure! I want Michelle Forbes back as Ro Laren, and in command of the new ship.

Well because of her actions in in T.N.G. Year 7 and joining the Maqui (sp?) she is going have to endure another Court-Martial (sp?).

But alot of time would have passed since the end of the marquis, she would ofc have survived. Returned back to Bajor to live, she is parden by Picard to rejoin starfleet. But ofc Starfleet wont let her of the hook that easy, she spends 2 years in the rebuilding efforts on Cardassia Prime.... Need to think a little more on the next part

I don't hate the idea, but I think it would be hard to capture the spirit of Star Trek without a human captain.

I could see Ro Laren as X.O. of a Federation starship, a few years of hot-headed confrontations with her Captain, another (near-miss) of a court-martial. Though, how would you get her off of DS9 & onto another ship? Perhaps she heads up a couple of escorts supervising a supply convoy heading through the wormhole & things go sideways as a newly-emerged threat decides to challenge Starfleet, now that the Jem Hadar / Dominion have withdrawn (for now.)

It's very human to hope or even assume that every character for whom we had some affection somehow survived their likely death.

I've read enjoyable pro-and fanfic that assert otherwise, but ... face it: In canon, Sito died when her "captor's" shuttle was destroyed, Thomas Riker was summarily executed once diplomatic relations with the Federation were meaningless ... and Ro bought it fighting the Jem'Hadar in the days after Dukat sold Cardassia's corporate soul.

I'm certain she died well. I'm even more certain she died.

The DS9 Relaunch has Ro Laren as Chief Of Security. How you'd get her off of DS9 to promote her into Command, I have no idea.

For now I'd settle for seeing Maquis spelled correctly. And, yes it's snarky, but given how integral Ro's betraying Picard (and Starfleet) to join the Maquis was, if that part of her background can't even be spelled correctly, I have to question one's knowledge of the character in general.

Yes. Briefly. As their ship is crushed by an inescapable black hole.

I'm not big on the Ro love, I'd be just as happy to never see Frakes' mug again, and I'm not a fan of the soap-opera-y shipper junk, either.

Besides, the next series either needs to take place in the time period immediately after the movie if the movie alters the timeline, or in 2409 or 2410.
