If it does happen, it better TOP the original. If it doesn't happen, oh well; no biggie. I'd seen that story before anyway.
I think it's been pretty well established that once Nero destroys the Kelvin, all bets are off as far as the timeline is concerned, especially since I don't think the Kelvin was in the primary timeline to begin with (which just further pushes this temporal clusterfuck into the "who cares?" file).
The look of the ship is completely wrong, the uniforms aren't a logical fit, and they're wearing Enterprise insignia.
But again, it's an alternate timeline, so why should we give a rip?
^ That's the premise that's being sold.
I say Nero, in trying to go back in time, slipped up and not only went back, but also hit an alternate timeline, and it's that timeline that he screws up, not the primary one.
If The Cage Doesn't happen in this new timeline, can I *keep* the DVD I've got? I don't want Abrams knocking down my front door...
I've been informed that the locked cupboard in Hollywood that is the home of The Star Treks has so far remained unmolested and un-broken into. So it's clear that The Star Treks is safe! And therefore all related DVDs, videos, towels and pez dispensers are safe as well.If The Cage Doesn't happen in this new timeline, can I *keep* the DVD I've got? This was Almost the same argument about ''enterprise'' back when it premierd! The look of the ship is completely wrong, the uniforms aren't a logical fit, and they're wearing Enterprise insignia.

but the look of the ship is from a time no one knows what the ships look like. the Enterprise insignia could have been re-used from the Kelvin. The uniforms seem pretty non-descript... somewhere inbetween Enterprise and TOS. I guess to me, they seem a logical fit. doesn't the alternate timeline start with the attack on the Kelvin?

Gordon''!
How sad.
I won't accept it unless it looks like Flesh Gordon.
Dammit, people, there is no "timeline." This is a re-imagining of Star Trek. They're not sweating minor or even major details. They're doing their own version of Trek.
That part is well said!!Dammit, people, there is no "timeline." This is a re-imagining of Star Trek. They're not sweating minor or even major details. They're doing their own version of Trek.
What success? A week or so in the top 5 films? That's right, but as its success appears more and more likely the relentlessly negative are going to grasp at straws.

There ''was'' a SEX TREK comic, there was even a ''SEX TREK:TNG!''I won't accept it unless it looks like Flesh Gordon.
Nah, it must look like Sex Trek.
God, Darwin, Xenu, Satan!?, you owe me one! PLEASE! don't let this film fail! What success? A week or so in the top 5 films?
A week or two at number one for starts. Gee, wouldn't that be nice for a Star Trek film in this century?
We will just have to wait and see. Don't hold your breath waiting for the movie to fail.![]()
