So, I went to the New Orleans Auto Show today...

msbae

Commodore
...and I saw what's in my automotive future. There were lots of very nice cars there. I took over 100 pics. I'm still kinda bummed I forgot to take pics of the new Dodge Ram since it's so much better than the last model.

However, there was really only one I wanted to see. I think there's a geek on these here forums that is also craving this car too...

So, without further ado... I present to you 17 images of pure All-American automotive awesomeness.

If anyone wants to see the other cool cars I photographed today (including a slew of Vettes, Pontiac Solstice Coupe & Roadster, Buick Lacrosse prototype, et al.), just ask.

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face whenever I was around that car!

I normally like to maintain a professional, emotionally detatched/reserved decorum when in public but, I can't help myself around so much American Metal.

Loved that concept since it first showed up.

Don't like how the main dash cluster is so sparse, yet the extra gauges are down by the shifter. The only thing that makes no sense. They should be in the same area as the speedo and tach. And I see how the 69 was like that, maybe too true to the original.

You don't need the gas/battery gauges in the instrument cluster. Also, GM might put A HUD in the car sometime. Then, the placement of the physical instrument read-outs won't matter as much.

Did you see the Girls Gone Wild bus? New Orleans, Spring Break...

No.

No offense, but I think the only nice photo is the last one from farther away.
Close-up the fabrication and desing looks cheap - like what's with the fake airvents on the rear wheels? - the hood doesn't seem to fit right, and the dashboard looks like it's made for a Chevy Suburban and not a Camaro.

I wouldn't be surprised if this car does look fantastic in person though.

I went to the Kansas City autoshow last week and found myself disapointed with the new Camaro. It's gorgeous and erection-worthy on the outside but the interior leaves MUCH to be desired.

And I seriously think that if you're putting an oil pressure and battery voltage gauge in your centeral console you're just trying to come up with things to fill space.

Thank you for the pics of this gorgeous peace of machinery!:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

It's not quite what I will eventually be getting, mine will be a manual and I'll just got with ye olde black leather for the interior, but still a fantastic looking car!:techman::techman::techman:

As for those not happy with the interior, I love it. It's very different, and it IS custom for the Camaro.

Wow! The interior is absolutely horrible. What the hell happened, they wasted all their design money on the outside?

^First off, that is the Inferno Orange accent package, so hence all the orange/red stuff (not my personal cup of tea). And if it's materials, with all due respect to msbae I'd say those pics are not quite representative of how they are, especially since this is one of the pre-production cars, where we guys that attend Camaro forums have been told over and over again "the materials are NOT final". If it's the design then I can't help you.

The new Camaro is kind of nice-looking, but it's not really sending me raving & craving it. Still, YMMV, of course. *bad pun* ;)

Any other interesting concepts or designs of note from the other companies?

Cheers,
-CM-

The new Camaro is absolutely gorgeous. I admit I'm not terribly thrilled with the interior, but I haven't had an opportunity to sit in it and make an informed decision on it. And with the official EPA rating of 29 MPG/highway in the V6 model, I am very impressed.

Granted, I would never actually buy one, unless I was wealthy and could afford to own more than one car.

Any European sports coupe could tear lumps out of that thing.
It looks like someone smacked it in the mouth with a snow shovel.

... just my opinion mind. Whatever floats you boat...

You're welcome. For those who complain about the interior, just remember that this is a show car that's been fondled and messed with by countless spectators. Mine will be manual too. That plastic that's supposed to provide ambient lighting will also be a different color than orange. I'm thinking Blue.

I did take a few pics of some MOPAR vehicles. Other than that, it's all GM. I don't like foreign cars and I don't waste time on them.

Name any.

Yeah blue here too, going for the 2SS.

And do post them up, loves me some MOPAR! Too bad they don't have quite the reliability as GM does and worse mileage in general.
