[Super Bowl] Live by the sword ...

... and perish the same way: Warner got them there, and his interception cost them the game.

I'm so proud of them: They never gave up, and they clearly outplayed the world champions. If not for the fluke return, Arizona wins going away.

They're young ... they're talented ... and they'll be back. :techman:

His INT didn't cost it, crappy roughing the passer calls that sustained a dead drive,
and non reviews on an incompletion in the last ten seconds cost them the game.

Good game Refs.

While I won't speculate on whether Arizona could have made a 40 yard pass inside 5 seconds, I feel that final play by Arizona was indeed an incomplete pass. If you look hard, Warner's arm had just started to move forward a fraction of a second before he got hit.

And he continued to push the ball forward even after, completing the motion.

And yes... after KW and Fitzgerald connected earlier, they most certainly could have.

Officiating tends to favor Pittsburgh. That's a fact acknowledged by all but the most inveterate Steelers homers.

Credit to LeBeau. His scheme down by the goalline at the end of the first half won Pittsburgh a championship.

You guys are blind. His arm was not coming forward with the ball, it was a fumble. Good luck next year. The Cardinals earned my respect even more. They have alot of good players and I hope they will continue to compete.

it ended up as more of a shotput rather than a spiral, but his arm DID come forward and push the ball down field...

Was shocked that it didn't at least get a decent review, just a 2 second pause and then game over...

No ... we're just Cardinals fans, and you're a Steelers fan. If the call on the field had been "incomplete pass," it would not have been reversed.

The officials were flag happy tonight, and it affected the game's outcome. Unfortunate, but ... when you're the Cardinals, you don't get calls. That's reserved for the NFL's elite teams.

The ref where a little flag happy. The calls went both ways and it is a part of the game. You live with it you die with it. If it had been called incomplete it would have been overturned. Woodly had his hand on the ball before it came forward. FUMBLE.

Regardless, he still made a pass attempt even though Woodly touched it he
still got the pass off. Incompletion.

Whether it would have led to the Cards winning, the Refs just let it go and
that's not fair in any book.

Unlike thne many (missed) holding calls that were around the necks of Harrison and Woodley? WAY TO GO RECORD BREAKING 6 TIME SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!! :techman:

They threw flags on every one, and then some more on plays that
didn't need it. 4 Time champs with 2 Ref wins.

Four-time champs with two ref wins.

I wouldn't go that far: The calls affected the outcome, and they did, overall, favor the Steelers.

As to three years ago, a t-shirt I saw said it best: Referees 21, Seahawks 10.

No, they really threw the momentum to the Steelers with the shitty
roughing the passer call on a drive that just hit fourth down.

And not reviewing the last play was handing the game to them without
proper officiating.

You might have a point ........ if the same or similar were mentioned anywhere else on the web or the radio or TV. So far I have not yet heard anyone complain about the officiating. The only one was the roughing the passer call that's been mentioned, and that one was definitely borderline in my mind though not in the minds of most announcers (even ex-players). But so far there haven't been any real complaints. There have been some comments on the holding calls but also followed by the holding calls not made on the Cards against the Steelers LB's - but that was the most animated of any discussions at all about the officiating. Something else to consider, there were two critical calls, challenged by the Cards, which were overturned in the Cards' favor.

The cardinals should have no complaints, but neither should they have any regrets. Their biggest question now is how to avoid slipping back to the pack the way the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, St. Louis rams and other teams that have made the Super Bowl yet since have looked less than mortal. Others...

- Can they get another season out of Warner, enough to give Leinart time to get his head on straight about playing football?
- Is Edgerrin James really back from the dead, and can they groom somebody to take his place when he's had enough .... which will probably be soon?
- Will the gesture by Fitzgerald (heretofore THE game's best receiver, absofragginlutely no questions asked) be enough to keep Boldin on the team or do will the Cards have to trade Boldin? (I really hope they keep him, because that's an awesome set of three receivers.

I thought the officiating wasn't very good, and for the most part, the Cards got the short end of the stick with the bad calls.

Don't get me wrong. The officiating was not at all perfect. I just think that the referees get far more than their share of blame. They still called that holding in the end zone, which resulted in a safety against the Steelers ===> 2 pts for the Cards, who get the ball back and leads to Fitzgerald's unreal touchdown run. Cards fans should not be complaining about the officiating, as it tends to denigrate the incredible performance of their team. They honestly proved themselves honorably and as a true NFL team. I'd hate to see that tarnished. The one thing might be that they tended to lose their cool and get too aggressive, too "trying to be a hero" on defense.

I'm not being biased here. I can truly say that I would have been happy no matter who won, because there were incredible stories either way. As a football fan, I loved the game. It wasn't a "pretty game", not until that incredible fourth quarter, but wow what a finish. Probably the finest fourth quarter ever in the Super Bowl

You know it's funny that steeler haters or even fans that don't like them that well are falling on the "ref's gave them the game" bandwagon! :vulcan::rolleyes:

Good game Refs.

Yeah the officiating was absolutely atrocious. The NFL league officials should be VERY concerned about the appearance of this game. As I said in another thread, I was rooting for the Steelers, but good Lord, let's win it fair and square.

I'm a Texans fan, I couldn't have cared less who won that game. In fact, I was glad to see the Steelers win if for no other reason than it keeps the Cowpatties from being the first team to claim they won six super bowls.

The refs made some bad calls, that's all I was trying to say.
