Will Obama save earth or just America?

It's a given that USA is about to become a Utopia that makes Heaven look like the Gaza Strip. The question is will he be able save the rest of the planet as well? It's not a lock but I think it's almost a sure thing Canada and Mexico will be saved by their sheer luck of being so near his presence. He will proably need to do a few overseas tours to change the rest of the world. I do worry about Alaska and Texas. Will the Bush and Palin rally the forces of evil in time to put some sort of evil forcefied that blocks Obama's innate perfection from touching their followers? Will Satan continue to help Bush or will he cower in fear of Obama like Lord Zendu? Also will Jesus be able to handle the fact that he has been demoted to second command in the war against evil. Any chance he might get bitter and switch sides?

Jason

Obama will politely refrain from saving the rest of the world so as not to be seen as interfering with other countries' Independence and sovereignty.

Texas and Alaska will take some much needed time off and spend a year or two vacationing in Europe

Satan, Bush, Palin, Zendu, and Jesus will form a folky-blues band and spread their sorrows across the country one small bar/restaurant at a time.

Seriously?

Have fun. It's kind of fun to think of Obama as the savior of humanity. Granted he will proably be a good president and all. He already has done some good things but I sort of wish he really was the savior type that republicans like to think we liberals think he is. Not because I want a savior so much as I like thinking about how it would play out in some future made up religion based around Obama. Am I the only one who likes to look at things going on in the world and wonder how it will or could be translated in the future by some religion that will exsit but hasn't even been created as of yet?

^^^ No, I do that all the time.

That's where the Bible and it's like come from, and current events will only be added to such mythologies in the future.

And sorry, I mistook you post as sarcastic.

Damn it, for a monkey-lovin' boy you sure ask a lot of questions!

Of course, Obama is constrained from saving Earth beyond our borders by the Prime Directive.

Were he to do so he'd have to immediately return to the 23rd century for trial before a Federation tribunal.

Obama would never risk that, as if he were found guilty he'd be stripped of his command of the Federation flagship U.S.S. Kickass!

Somewhat OT, but this is one of the things I love about Heretics of Dune, which amongst other things explores how the Rakian Priesthood has interpreted events in God Emperor, imbuing mundane events with self-serving ceremonial significance and such.

The guy we elected 9 years ago could have saved the Earth. Here's hoping Obama can do it too.

You know, I've thought that too, but honestly think about it.

I don't really think he would have been able to accomplish as much
as he has in the name of Mother Earth had he been in the White House
and dealing with so much political clout and having to deal with foreign
policy, health care etc etc. I think him not getting rightfuly elected may
have actually allowed him the opportunities he's had to really make a
difference.

And, would the country have been this eager and able to elect Barack Obama
President had we not endured the last 8 years under Bush? I think not.

He stands on his own ability and merit, absoloutely. But great men shine
in the worst of circumstances. And these certainly have been of the worst.
I believe that is a huge part of what allowed Obama to take office, and I
believe Gore will probably end up, and has, making a bigger difference not
holding public office.

In fact he would have spent his first term dealing with the aftermath of 9/11, same as Bush.

Possibly, whether or not the event would have occurred without Bush in
office is still very much up to debate. ;)

But we do agree that he would have certainly been tied up with too many
other things to be able to push the agenda as he has been able to. :)
