was this smooth?

I think asking people on a Star Trek message board if something is smooth is about as productive as asking Helen Keller to describe her favorite Beethoven sonata.

Damn, you offended like two groups at once with that one

Hey, we can be smooth. ;) We learn from the best - Kirk! :D

BBW is an acronym for Big Beautiful Woman.

Oh.

That doesn't sound pleasant.

:wtf:

Why the hell not?

It definitely sounds pleasant. It is, however, also redundant. Big IS beautiful!

As for whether the OP was smooth: It would depend on the tone at which he said it. If you say it like a line, it'll sound like shit. Must be sincere, and a sort of Frank Drebin-in-Police Squad! level of seriousness. :D

Rycher, the image you posted crosses the line in Misc; I've removed it as well as all quotes.

Hmm...personally, I would have been bothered.

But I am one of those who is generally bugged ANY time a guy thinks they're actually going to get me to go out with them when I've barely even talked to them ONCE, let alone even formed a friendship with me. Excessive forwardness in men is not something I care for, as (to me) it reads as a lack of self-restraint and respect towards others. A guy had better get to know me first and DARNED well had better do it in a genuine manner and not just to try and sleep with me.

I was at Walgreen's and I was looking for something and the only available associate was a BBW who was a beauty consultant working in the cosmetics department. I approached her, she asked me if she could help me. She didn't appear as if she was dressed as though she worked there (overdressed) and I looked at her name tag which read "beauty consultant" which I read aloud and I interjected "I can see why..." ;)

Being a social moron, I'd like your take on it. Was it too over the top or was I as smooth as I thought I was?

Her reaction seemed to be flattered.

If you're looking for more Trek-related approval, that tribal mask over Barry's shoulder kind of looks like Captain Picard, so he approves too.

So...got any plans tonight?
(ducks, runs)

Someone telling you that you're beautiful is bothersome and shows a lack of respect and restraint? It's not like he used some rude and overtly sexual one-liner, he paid her a nice - albeit somewhat cheesy - compliment that doesn't require any kind of quid pro quo beyond a simple "thank you" at most if that's all she's comfortable with.

Jeez, and some people wonder why guys often get nervous about having to make a first move.
