Best spaceship Crash

I happen to be going through the channels last night and I came across PITCH BLACK. I liked this movie when it came out, and it held up...but the best part was that crash scene at the start..it looked real...best SCI-space crash..IMO..

Off the top of my head:

*Star Trek: Generations with the Enterprise-D

Pitch Black is hard to beat in this aspect... While other shows/movies may show nice external shots of crashes, none of them gives you that feeling of "being there" as Pitch Black does in its opening scene.

Pitch Black is definitely the most visceral. I would also mention the Pegasus' suicide ram in BSG and the Invisible Hand crashing in Revenge of the Sith.

Spaceship crash: original Planet of the Apes. On a large movie screen it was quite disorienting.

Airplane crash: Cast Away. Scared the hell out of me, it was so real.

The Enterprise-D in Generations, and the Scorpio from Blake's 7 pretty good when you consider it was a low budget 70's space show.

I loved it when the Super Star Destroyer crashed into the Death Star in ROTJ.

Loved it when I was a kid, love it now. :techman:

Ooof, yeah, good call. That was an absolutely brilliantly done scene - by far the best plane crash ever committed to film.

It was absolutely terrifying - made more so by the fact that you only saw it happen from the inside. Helluva sequence.

For some reason, I find myself thinking of a rather messy Eagle transporter crash from Space: 1999 too...

Glad someone mentioned Scorpio...actually when you compare Scorpio and the Ent D side by side it's hard to imagine one probably cost a thousand times more than the other!

I gather that comes down the approach. When an Eagle crashed, they crashed and blew up the model thought the model work to start with was pretty top notch (no doubt due to the earlier work done for Anderson by Derek Meddings).

Im gonna second the 'splashdown' crash of Taylor's ship from the Original Planet of the Apes movie, very neat beginning to the film!

Though I also was very much impressed with the ramming of the EAS Roanoke by the EAS Churchill in Babylon 5 during the Earth Alliance's attempt to take the station. The image as well as the music that accompanied the scene was chilling.
