Okay my head is spining from searching for this answer. :brickwall:

I have not read a Trek novel in a few years, so I was intrigued by the Destiny series, and while reading it discover that Janeway was killed, I am assuming by the same author in a earlier book.

Can someone please inform me of the title of that book.

Thanks

It's been out for over a year now; isn't there a statute of limitations on when Spoilers are reasonably expected?

And to answer your question, sniksder, the book was Before Dishonor, by Peter David; not the same author in an earlier book. (But for the record, it wasn't PAD's call either; it was apparently an editorial decision. Look for Full Circle in April, the first post-finale Voyager novel since Spirit Walk, to address a little more the fallout and consequences of her death.)

Was there a body? Did we SEE her die? David is famous for 'we all thought this person was dead' stories.

She definitely dies, we see her die, but that said the end is left somewhat ambiguous; Janeway talks to a female Q after she dies. However, the editors & the author of Full Circle have both stated explicitly that we aren't going to see Janeway coming back to life any time soon if ever, certainly not in Full Circle.

***SPOILERS***

We didn't get a body, and it actually seems like Janeway may not be dead dead. She seems to be wandering with Lady Q much in the same way Picard was with Q in the TNG episode Tapestry. Hopefully if it was an editorial decision instead of PAD's idea, editorial has a cool story idea in which to bring her back :bolian:.

It's my understanding there's a new Voyager book coming out soon....but they won't say who the Captain is. Hmmm......

Well we know that
At least upto the present (the recent destiny series), that Chakotay is captain. As for the future...

Paris, you can use special spoiler tags instead to hide your spoiler: just put in two tags, with the spoilery text in between them. [/spoiler] goes immediately after the spoiler text, while
goes immediately before it.

Example:

Janeway dies.

But why would she be demoted to Captain from Vice Admiral? Unless we get a rehash of the Star Trek IV situation with Kirk's demotion...which, in this case, would be utterly ridiculous.

I never realised I was suppose to think that she was dead dead until I came here and read it on one of the board.

Yes, she's not just merely dead, she is most sincerely dead.
I only made it to about 1/4 through before I just had to put it down. I did not know she died!

...of Before Dishonour, you mean? Then you've seen Janeway die: it's the scene at the beginning where she gets sucked into the cube while Lady Q stands there and mocks her. That's it for Janeway save for a brief manifestation of her (largely dismantled) personality towards the end, and then that post-death chat with Lady Q that had a bunch of us confused as to Janeway's level of deadness.

Incidentally, in a recent interview Margaret Clark made mention of Janeway's "apparent" death, so all may not be lost in terms of fixing the steaming pile that was Before Dishonour.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Not to mention the rehash of Star Trek III that would be needed to bring Janeway back.
