After 20,000 votes, Firefly is ranked #1 sci-fi tv show.

Here are the results:

TOP 10 TV SHOWS
1. “Firefly”
2. “Battlestar Galactica” (2004)
3. “The X-Files”
4. “Heroes”
5. “Stargate: SG-1”
6. “Doctor Who”
7. “Star Trek: The Next Generation”
8. “Babylon 5”
9. “Star Trek”
10. “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”

So what would your top 10 be?

Wait so this is a Scifi Channel Poll and Farscape is nowhere to be found? That's crazy.

I don't know if I've even seen ten scifi shows but for what it's worth:

1) Farscape
2) Star Trek: The Next Generation
3) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
4) Babylon 5 (Only seen part of it but it's popular and deserves to be in the list)
5) Doctor Who
6) Battlestar Galactica
7) Quantum leap
8) Star Trek
9) Star Trek: Voyager
10) Firefly

1. Star Trek: The Next Generation
2. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

After about a quadrillion light years...

3. Battlestar Galactica (new)
4. Star Trek
5. Babylon 5
6. The X-Files
7. Stargate: SG-1
8. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
9. Angel
10. Lost

I purposefully left Firefly off the list because I don't think it's fair to rate a series based on the few episodes we got. Heroes' massive quality drop and the hideous decisions they've taken regarding their main two characters this season disqualifies it from the list.

Star Trek: Voyager and Enterprise both had periods where I would have put them on the list, as did Stargate: Atlantis but all three are too inconsistent. Leaving Quantum Leap off the list was very hard.

I am very surprised Farscape is not on this list, but then they didn't put TNG first so it was wrong right from the start.

1. Battlestar Galactica (2004)
2. Battlestar Galactica (1978)
3. Space: Above and Beyond
4. Twilight Zone
5: Stargate SG-1
6: X-Files
7: Doctor Who
8: Star Trek (TOS)
9: Star Trek (DS9)
10: Outer Limits (1990's)

(How a show about freakin' cowboys in space speaking Chinese managed to be number one in that poll utterly astounds and offends me...)

SG-1 higher than TNG and Babylon 5? Weird.

1) Angel
2) Battlestar Galactica (2004)
3) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
4) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
5) Firefly
6) Star Trek: The Next Generation
7) Lost
8) Babylon 5
9) Doctor Who
10) Torchwood

For me?

1. The Twilight Zone
2. ST: Deep Space Nine
3. Doctor Who
4. ST: Next Generation
5. Blake's 7
6. Stargate: SG1
7. LOST
8. Firefly
9. The Prisoner
10.Heroes

Hey, at least Firefly got wrapped up in the Serenity movie. Nice to see some Angel love :)

1. "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"

4. “Star Trek: The Next Generation”
5. "Batman" (1966)
6. "Nowhere Man"

So what would your top 10 be?

I presume that this is where the list came from?

Shouldn't it be Battlestar Galactica (2003) rather than (2004)?
Seen as the miniseries aired in 2003 first. I don't see why that shouldn't be counted

Good point, but then any Top 10 Sci-Fi list which does not have the original Twilight Zone on it is immediately suspect, imho. :vulcan:

It was original, unexpected, and different at a time when that was needed in the SF landscape. Plus the underdog message of the show combined with its roughshod treatment by the network created a sort of "perfect storm" among SF fans.

It's one of those things that can be partially explained by show quality, and the rest is just a convergence of circumstances.

1. Star Trek - The Next Generation
2. Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles
3. Star Wars - The Clone Wars
4. Pushing Daisies
5. Star Trek - Deep Space Nine
6. Star Trek - Enterprise
7. Star Trek - Voyager
8. Star Trek - The Original Series
9. Battlestar Galactica (new version)
10. The X-Files

tied with #1 would also be 'Batman - The Animated Series' and tied with #2 would be 'X-Men - The Animated series'

Is Lost considered Sci-Fi? It's one of my faves, but I didn't know if it was eligible for this.

They lied to the network to get it on the air, but yes it is Sci-Fi. Time travel ? Sci-Fi. Teleportation ? Sci-Fi. Giant smoke monsters ? Sci-Fi.
