Here it is - no bloody "A", "B" "C" or "D"

Reminds me of the Ambassador-class ships from the 24th century, like the Enterprise-C from NEXT GEN.

Yes, me too, but without those ugly 90º angle nacelle struts.

My first thought when I saw the new movie Enterprise was "Abrams was shown---among other episodes and movies---'Yesterday's Enterprise' from TNG as part of his boning-up process to prepare for making the film." The retconned NCC-1701 looks like a hybrid of the classic TOS ship, the refitted version from the first few movies and the Enterprise-C.

I just wondering if the designers had enough forethought to also design in a saucer separation plane. Just in case a future storyline would call for it.

^
Wouldn't surprise me, since even in "The Apple(TOS)" Kirk mentions that the nacelles and stardrive section can be jettisoned in a major emergency and the "main section"(i.e. saucer)can get out of trouble and to safety with all the other baggage, mass and tonnage shed.

Thats the direct link too. You can see the changes clearly and I think its far closer to the original.. and all ive done is shifted some bits back and forth, changed colours here and there, as well as remove those droopy bits from under the nacells.

Ahhh, that explains it, it is out of poportion due to camera angle distortion.

Maybe it wont look too bad afterall.

Maybe the nacelles will look ok, thats my only major beef with this design, the jet-nacelles.

But still, i like it, but as mentioned before , i dont love like i do the TOS and TMP ships. :techman:

Or even better, this one if someone would be kind enough to post it for me.

I'm new and it wont let me post images :-(

Thankies :)

Hmm...

I like the skin colour you used, and your 'shop does a nice job of staying close to the original design while modernizing it. One thing to note is that the Nacelle covers have a piece of steal dividing the glass (or whatever it is) into two halves, so they probably would not be entirely red. Its also worth noting that someone else claimed that when powering up for Warp speed the Nacelles of the J.J.-prise also glow orange.

I think the J.J.-prise and your photoshop of it are both valid and worthy attempts at evoking the image of the original Enterprise. While you tend to move towards emulating the TOS Ent., it seems J.J. and crew attempted to add their own flavouring to the ship.

nice looks pretty muck like the original, would have been cool if they would have done that

Makes one wonder if the "streaking stars/smear/stretching" effect used for warp jumps ever since 1979 will be in the new movie, or if Abrams and his crew came up with some new warp-jump idea we've never, ever seen demonstrated before. Even in NEMESIS toward the end of the B&B era of the franchise the Enterprise-E started leaving a trail/puff of warp plasma exhaust behind like cigarette smoke when she jumped to warp.

with the light blue deflector dish, light glow under the caps of the nacelles and the bridge shots, we're in for light blue overload

Yeah, i like it. I never thought to colour my 'shopped Ent earlier, i only re coloured the dish and nacelle cap. Good call, it looks good with a slight wethered look going on.

Who the hell cares how they work? They work.

And if the writers have a sense of humor at all, that line should appear in the film. :p

Sounds like a dry wit line from McCoy to me. :techman:

Kirk: Get us outa here, max speed.
Scott: Engines now at 80% power, re-routing power from all non escential systems, there ya go, theyre now operating at 98 percen...
McCoy: Who the hell cares how they work? They work. Now go, Jim.

I think it looks pretty cool actually...the nacelle's aside I'm pleased that they didn't choose to redesign the vessel totally. New wallpaper!

^Doesn't even match half the silliness in this thread.

Going by the comments posted by Dennis from the designer, I bet the nacelles get, um, circumcised somewhere along the way.

Anybody else appreciate the comic value of someone named Church coming in and changing one of the most iconic pieces of canon?

The funny thing is for over four decades a million creative fans have produced a million creative versions of their ideal Enterprise, and yet the next thing you know some random production team comes along and hires some equally random commercial artist to come up with something off the top of his head at the spur of the moment, and it's the fans who'll have to live with it. If any of those knuckleheads had even bothered to browse our fine Trek Art section, this never would have happened.
