I was pretty disappointed by this episode. The season 1 cliffhanger was very well put together, but I felt like they kind of tried to be too stylistic at the expense of continuing the storyline. The beginning with the slow mo shaky cam illustrates this very well; ten minutes of pazzaz to convey ten seconds of story. Unfortunately, they also failed to make a compelling action episode despite their many attempts.

I enjoyed the early signs of John's transformation, but I fear it's just a cop out to give him the necessary angst to attract some young high school teehee babe. Ellison was great, but as usual, he was criminally underused in this episode.

Sarah and Cameron continue to annoy me. Sarah is still an idiotic bitch who jerks people around and seems to love it. Cameron is too inconsistent with her ability to display intense emotion one moment and completely stay cut off the next.

The ending was predictable and anticlimactic. Did anyone really think John was going to burn Cameron? I think not. True, there was some indication of a fledgling storyline with the new english redheaded sexpot, but it looks to be very cheesy from the looks of it.

I very much enjoyed the first season, but I fear season two may be starting its inevitable downward spiral. I'd be interested to see what kind of ratings it pulled in though.

High School isn't supposed to play much of a part in the second season.

This is just an aside, but did anyone notice how they pulled a bit of revisionist history with the recap sequence? They showed Derek Reese beaming in with Cameron and the Connors. Big WTF!

What? No they didn't.

They showed him beaming in with the three nameless Resistance Fighters that Vick killed.

The recap is available on YouTube. It shows Derek arriving with his strike team, not the Connors.

I know where the confusion might come from though. There is a shot of Derek, Cameron, Sarah, and John together from the episode "What He Beheld" in the recap.

^ It was an easy mistake to make. No worries.

The extended cut of the Demon Hand does have some interesting scenes. It also expands upon why Cheri was so afraid when John mentioned Kansas to her. She was involved with the Counselor as well.

I agree. I'm watching guys putting on flex cuffs and trying to interogate the Connors. WTF a car bomb just went off. Police responce time might be slow because of the FBI massacre, but still a car bomb just went off. How much time did they figure they had?

Speaking as one who is easy to please, I'm voting below average. Slow, predictable and uninvolving.

And cutting your hair??? Who gives a firetruck!?

Luckily, there seem to be a few logs in the fire that have the potential to start crackling in future episodes.

But as for a season opener, pee-u!

^ In fairness, this wasn't the story they originally wanted to open S2 with, but the writers strike screwed up their plans.

Since Garret Dillahunt's been added to the main cast, are we going to get to see bad terminator have character development too? Maybe get a girlfriend? A job at a bar? An addiction to Rock Band? :)

Close.

He will join Arnocorps and become a ballsy stud.
