Star Trek: The Experience, anymore events before closing

I was inquiring if there were going to be any other events before closing. I will be arriving this Saturday the 23rd for my last "Star Trek" Experience and then leaving on the 26th. Does anyone know what the gift shops look like, is there anything left? This will be our (me and my wife's) fourth and final time to the Experience. We will miss it greatly. It was our only reason to come to Vegas

Apparently ALL of the bottled Romulan Ale is gone.
I was in the gift shop trying to buy one for one last drink on the last night of the convention, but it was all gone.
There was plenty of the Klingon drink, but I wasn't interested in drinking that.
Also, this being my first visit to the Experience in 2 years, I noticed that the gift shop didn't have any of the pricier items, like props, anymore.
They had more Trek figures from Art Asylum/Diamond Select this year, then they had on my last visit.

There are no more special events scheduled until September 1 (last day of business), when the closing ceremony will take place. No one outside the staff and a few insiders (former employee Biggshow, for example, who is keeping mum on the details) know exactly what it will look like, but rumor has it that the cast of alien characters and Starfleet crew will be "piped off" the station for a curtain call. I'm going to be there on 8/31 and 9/1 for the closing days... I was there for the grand openeing and I want to be there for the final curtain to show my appreciation... that place has been very important to me over the years and I have had a lot of fun and made a lot of great memories there.

As far as the shops go, the stock is reportedly getting very thin and there's a decent chance that one or more of the "storefronts" will be closed by the end. The convention crowd did a real number on the place, snapping up a lot of what was left as well as the last remaining stock of Romulan Ale... glad I saved a bottle as a collectible.

Meanwhile, I am looking forward to see what the cast come up with to make the last couple of days special, and am hopeful that Quark's won't be drained down to dregs before I arrive for my last visit to the 24th century. I plan to arrive at the bar as it opens Monday 9/31, plunk myself down in a stool and not move 'til they force me out!

Have a great time on your final visit, and report back to us as to what goes on and how the shops are looking.

I was there around the 10th or 11th (of July), and I was surprised at how few of the pricier items were left. They pretty much only had two of those Borg Queen (Alice Krige) statues, but nothing else like props.

I just got back this morning after a trip to the Experience. I wish i could say that everything is still up and running but i can't. Gareks and Zeks are closed down and already dismantled. Whats left you can order on the website as thats all thats left. Quarks is still Quarks a nice place to eat although the menu items are down to just a few, several dishes are no longer available. The rides are going and the players are still professionals doing there job. Theres a wall along the handicap ramp filled with letters from fans and kids pleading not to close the place. The place was busy. Everyone was having a good time. Lot of first timers there, it was my sixth time.

Niners are eincouraged to leave baseballs at the bar. It seems to be a nice tribute someone is trying to start. I'm sending mine in as the bartenders are awesome bunch of guys.

I just got off the plane and wish i could have stayed one more day.

It's too bad the closing ceremony is a closed affair; I'd have liked to see that. I always had fun every time we visited the Experience (which was every time we've been to Vegas since the thing opened).

Were you there this last weekend?

The closing ceremony is NOT, as far as I know, a "closed affair." It's going to be done publically, at the close of business on the last day 9/1. What I am expecting is that Quark's and the Promenade will be shut down and "evacuated" for lack of a better word, they'll get everyone out front, and then do the final closing ceremony with the cast and crew being piped off the station. They'll be open for business all day on Monday 9/1, they'll close the museum/ride side after the last group goes in, and then they'll chase everyone out of Quark's and the Promenade into the casino area out front and do the closing ceremony.

And then, we're on our own. :(

As stated above... the convention did a real number on the inventory of alot of items. I stopped by on Wednesday and there was plenty of everything. Only owning the cheap seat tickets, I couldn't get back in until Sunday... not only was all the Romulan Ale gone, a heck of a lot of the expensive lithographs were gone as well. Sure am glad I smuggled a six pack of Ale back last year! But now, I don't think I can get myself to drink it. *sigh*

What a great place it was, even though I'd only been there twice (my first time, was the entire reason for my trip to LV as well!)

some, uh, inside information - as far as i know the Experience's employees will be getting invites to the closing party, i assume since most if not all of them will be working September 1st, that this is going to be a private employees-only affair, probably after they close for the night and chase us patrons out.
so sad. :(

Man, this breaks my heart. I loved that place so much! If there was any way I could get there for the final weekend, I would do it. *sigh*

I think we're talking cross-purposes here. Of course there's going to be an after-party that only employees, former employees and other insiders will attend, but I have it on good authority that they're not simply going to chuck us regular folk out the door come closing time and turn off the lights. The closing ceremony of which I speak will take place out front of the attraction, and will very likely include some sort of curtain call for the cast and crew... a farewell moment, if you will... then they'll go back in and we won't be able to. This comes from both a former employee who has been in on the plans and from a current member of STTE management... so unless something has changed drastically in the past week or two, there will be some sort of special moment for the public... and it's something I don't want to miss.

And if perchance they do simply say "pay up and get out" at the end of the day, I'll leave a big tip, say a sincere thank you, and walk away glad to have had the "experience."

Ah, I was there Saturday. I was wondering if anyone wlse was there when I was.

Dale's got it right. They are encouraging folks to stop by for the de-commissioning ceremony so that fans and employees can say one last mutual thank you (as a former employee and current fan, the relationship has always been symbiotic). This will take place in the Space Quest casino (The Hilton is giving it over to The Experience that night). Then present and former employees and special invited guests will head back into the Experience for a final farewell party (much drinking, wailing and gnashing off teeth to ensue).

So definitely come by, drink the place dry, and leave your baseball.

Anyone going to be there for the Final Weekend?
If so, Saturday Night party (8/30) at Quark's anyone?

Monique

I really do not know. If I had to guess, I'd say that the online store might stay open for a while after the Experience closes, and that any and all merchandise left over including the photos (I assume you mean the autographed pictures of the Experience alien cast) will be available there... but that is TOTALLY just a guess.
