I wasn't impressed with her performance, but then I don't think anybody could have carried off Too Stupid To Live Lois. Not sure to what extent Bosworth's naive performance created the perception of a brainless Lois or, conversely, how much Lois' character being written as an utter ditz influence Bosworth's performance, but neither helped the other, that's for sure.

I'd like to see Braniac. One not so far removed from his appearance in Superman: TAS. Maybe they could fit in Terrence Stamp as Zod at the beginning bitching to Braniac that Jor-Elgonna bust him so if that happened Braniac should avenge him in some way. Perhaps they could use the unseen footage from Superman Returns with Clark searching the remains of Krypton and introduce Braniac locking onto his DNA and following him back home to Earth.

No idea what the hell they'll do with the Son though. I was hoping Singer had something up his sleeve when he decided to make Superman a Daddy.

The problem is that while Nolan chose to ignore the last Batman movies, Singer just made a sequel that ignored a few installments. Imagine if Nolan had just made a sequel to Batman Returns. Warners needs to start fresh and make a new series that is NOTHING like Donner's interpretation. Just because the 78 movie had a good origin doesn't mean any future films have to follow it. Why not include the origin in a new way? Like through flashbacks and ignore that first movies structure. We don't need 60 minutes of Smallville again. And also, no more Lex land grab schemes. We need bad guys that equal Supes.

Since this causality is a bit beyond your grasp, just tell us what seemed "ditzy" about Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. You could call her secretive and conflicted. That we can see. But "brainless"? I don't think so.

Apparently not enough for this Lois Lane, such that we get to see her bouncing around the airplane for the next few moments. But while that may be written off as a 'heat-of-the-moment' kind of mistake, there is no justifying the dephts of idiocy to which she sinks when she brings her toddler with her while on a stake-out of a known criminal mastermind who's already tried to harm her in the past. The causality I'm trying to figure out is whether Bosworth saw how stupid the character was and portrayed her accordingly, or if Bosworth had no intention of doing so and instead her doe-eyed performance contributed to the overall perception of Lois' astounding naivety.

I HATED Lois in this movie. You know, when I first saw that scene with her bringing her kid on the boat, I was incredulous at her utter disregard for his safety. I mean, that's borderline child endangerment. And when I saw her flirting and flying with Superman, emotionally cheating on her faithful, supportive fiance, who to me was the real hero in this movie, that sealed it for me.

I didn't like Lois taking Jason along on an investigation either, but that was a script problem rather than a performance one.

As for the live action screen portrayals of Lois Lane my top two are Teri Hatcher in Lois & Clark and Margot Kidder under Donner's direction. Erica Durance is hot and she's quite charismatic, but her performance is very broad and kind of one-note (although the writing lends itself to that). On the basis of the sum of their careers, Kate Bosworth is a much better actress than Erica Durance.

I, personally, just want a good Superman movie. If it's with Bryan Singer, then awesome, but if not, then oh well. However I just hope WB doesn't give the property to Mark Millar.

Um, I think people are forgetting that Lois had no clue Lex was on the boat, or had anything to do with the power outage in the first place. All she was doing was trying to track down the source of this strange event; there was no reason to believe there was something evil or diabolical behind it.

Maybe bringing her kid along for an interview wasn't the smartest thing for a professional reporter to do, but it wasn't this GIGANTIC error in judgement people make it out to be.

I too want a good Superman movie and as I've said before would love it if Millar was the writer and Singer the director. That would be an amazing creative combination and I think we would get a really entertaining Superman movie filled with all the elements that fans are looking for in the franchise.

I don't want Tom Welling as Superman...I do however want a pay off from Smallville showing him in the costume but not in a full fledged Supes film. I doubt he could carry a film on his own, he can barely carry Smallville as it is.

I don't know. The music on the soundtrack was fairly ominous. She couldn't have been listening too closely. I heard it clearly and knew the boat was danger.

In actuality, as soon as she recognized the first hint of danger, the wigs, she tried to get away. Before that it didn't seem overly dangerous.

It'd be weird if Millar worked under Singer because Millar has been so vocal on his disapproval of Superman Returns but then again Millar would do anything, so I could totally see him working under Singer and praising him, etc etc.

Sad to say,this has been on the cards for some time. There was never any doubt about sequels to Spider-man or Batman Begins, for example. Superman seemed to be followed by the pattern that also emerged after Ang Lee's Hulk. Rumour, rumour, less and less sign of movement, cast and crew moving onto other things ...

With the reboot proving successful for the Batman series, the Bond movies, though less so for Hulk, it's perhaps inevitable that WB would consider this approach for Superman. After all, SR, much as I like it, was an underperformer financially (people were expecting Spider-man like box office returns) and divided fans down the middle. You can never please everyone, but the movie never received the love that BB or Spider-man did. I think picking up where it left off (with a 10 year old Jason etc) might be a risky proposition. Ignoring that sort of baggage and delivering a more fun movie (like the Incredible Hulk) seems a lot safer.

Count me in on the Bring Back Routh camp though. I thought he was the perfect successor to Reeve and he can only be better, now that he's more grown up and mature looking. I don't care if the next movie is a reboot and he's the only actor from SR in it - if the much less indispensable Judi Dench can be in the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies and Casino Royale, then why can't Routh save WB a multi zillion dollar search for a new man to wear the cape?

Limbo is probably just the place for Superman, until the powers that be can come up with a better reason for making it other than to say look, we found a creepy yet passable Christopher Reeve impersonator. Sadly, I think that dude's big Hollywood career has passed it's prime; Unless of course they're planning to remake 'Somewhere In Time' or 'Deathtrap' anytime soon.
