Just got back from it. Funny but uneven. Thought everything fell apart at the end. But like I said, still funny and enjoyable.
Good performacnes from all the leads (Carrell, Hathaway, Rock, Arkin, Stamp) and it was fun to see Masi Oka and Patrick Warburton.

Saw it today. It was good for what it was trying to be. I laughed out loud once or twice. I loved the original show and I loved the nods to it. I also loved "the agent in the tree".
I can't afford it, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

The TV show was well before my time, so I have no nostalgia for it or preconceptions when I went in. That said, I thought it was very funny (the audience was clearly really enjoying it).
I remember a lot of people saying that Hathaway was too young to be Carell's love interest, so it's fun to see the movie offer an in-story rationalization. I don't care, personally; she was super-hot (and surprisingly credible as an action-hero).
I have to admit, I honestly didn't see
coming, and I'm rarely surprised by formula movies like this; I guess him not being a total jerk threw me off. I did like Siegfried's rather surprising fate.

I'm going to give it a B+. "Missed it by that much."
I was very entertained, it was very funny, as expected Carrell was perfect as Smart but, in the end, I dunno it seemed to be "missing something."

My wife and I both loved it.
I was a Get Smart junkie as a child but my wife had never heard of the series until recently... so I was impressed that we seemed to enjoy it equally.
Some nice touches...
Siegfried's opening line was perfect.

The casting of Agent 13 and Hymie.

Oh man, that was hilarious. Got off work and decided to go. The chief was a riot. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while. The whole scene in the practice range for golf had me laughing so much it hurt.
Okay, I had to see to my mom's falling accident and didn't get to go today so SOME of these posts are a little spoilery.

Well. It is a SPOILER thread.
I think Get Smart, as a contrast to the Movie movies, works as a perfect parody. Get Smart being a quasi-/soft parody of Bondian spy movies.
My son and I loved it. He's never seen the original and I had to point out all the easter eggs but he thought it was great fun all the same. Me, I was in nostalgic heaven. A much better film than I was expecting. As said many times already the entire cast was top notch. Anne Hathaway is a marvel, who knew? And I thought the in-story explanation of 99 and Max's age difference (20 years in real life) to be very clever and logical given the circumstances. Alan Arkin, you just can't say too much about him!
As for the two original-series cameos, yes the obvious one is right there in your face. I looked and looked for the second and couldn't find it. Figured it out this morning. He appeared in TOS only once (as a villain), well before he became the star he is today. If you don't know TOS you'll never get it.

Eh, I kinda have to agree with the critics on this one. There ARE some truly funny bits, and Carell is great... but the whole thing came across like just another generic action comedy. Like Rush Hour 2 or something.
And all the shaky Jason Bourne-style camera work and dark, moody lighting felt out of place too. This really needed to be a bright, fun looking movie like the Naked Gun movies, I think.
And what was with Anne Hathaway in this? Her character was completely unlikeable, and had no chemistry with Carell at all. Don't they do screen tests do determine this kind of thing beforehand? lol

James Caan, who plays the President; he made a guest appearance on the show back at the start of his career.
I saw it on Friday night with my best friend who's never seen the original series and doesn't know who the hell Don Adams was and we both loved it. I was a huge fan of the original series and loved all the little nods and homages,especially during the scene where Max leaves Washington to go to Los Angeles and takes the suit, car, and shoe phone, did anyone catch that the original cone of silence was there as well? All the leads were great especially Carrell and Hathaway (she was especially hot) I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel where they reveal Mr. Big and CLAW(which were mentioned in a news paper Max was reading at the start).

Saw it, loved it...I wasn't alone. About a 2/3rds full theatre was regularly laughing out loud and even applauded at the end. People were coming out of the theatre saying things like "Oh my God, that was SO FUNNY!". Haven't seen or heard that type of response in some time.
I'll have to compile some thoughts I can post in something resembling a cogent fashion, but generally-speaking, I thought it was a big home run. First movie I remember laughing aloud so much at since "There's Something About Mary"...what is that, a decade or so?

Never knew they made a whole other movie with the two techies and Hymie.
I wonder if they'll make a sequel. This one made $39.2 million this weekend. If they do, I wouldn't mind seeing an updated take on the Craw.
