Xeris, you got me all excited. I thought you'd found it in a store somewhere. I already read the excerpt... Anyway, I enjoyed it... I'm intrigued to see where the story of Illiana goes... Now, I'm not the most conversant person in backstory and place names and dates and such... I'm having a hard time figuring out which world this excerpt takes place in... It feels like it would be the Mirror Universe, but could it also be our universe before Illiana undergoes the Bajoran surgery?

Looking at Memory-Beta, I think it is our world... especially seeing the reference to the bone carving. I like Illiana's character in this excerpt. I'm curious to see how she'll become dedicated to serving her world to the point of joining the Obisidian Order and becoming an undercover agent...
Heh, at first I was disappointed by the excerpt for the lack of any station regulars, but after reading it again, it's definitely gotten me excited once more for the continuation of the relaunch.

Nice to see an excerpt that deals Illiana and ther fact she wants a different path in her life and the part with the bone carving was a nice addition.Also having the scene at that reception was interesting too.It looks like we're going to get another excellent ds9 book.

I read the excerpt the other day after the link popped up in one of our other threads, and it has definitely made me even more anxious for the book. I wasn't expecting that kind of backstory stuff, but now that I've read the excerpt I'm curious to learn more about Illiana. I wonder which half of the book this comes from, because it does seem to take place in our universe, but at the same time it deals with Illiana who is currently in the MU. I guess it probably depends on if is split by universe or by "Kira".

I've been out of the trek lit loop for a while, but I was wondering what's been going on with the DS9 Relaunch. Does this take place after Warpath? I'm finding myself a little lost. Is the Mirror Universe part of the relaunch?

One of many things I'm looking forward to is seeing how soon after Warpath the novel will begin. Will it be a few hours/days/weeks/months later? Or a four year jump some people seem to want?
