Will New Trek fill many of the holes left in Classic Trek?

So I was thinking will new Trek fill in many of the blanks left open?

When they remake "Space Seed" will Khan meet Chekov in the lower decks some where?

Will it be said on screen that Mcoy has a daughter Joanne? (I'm not sure if that was ever actually said on screen)

Will they show Spock being promoted?

Will they give Uhura a last name?

Will they give Spock a first name?

Will they explain how Sulu went from a science department to helm officer/Command track?

Will they explain in the first few episode why both Uhura and Spock were wearing "Command Gold"?

Will they show Sulu's wife, or at least the lady he empregnated?

Are there any other questions you guys want answered?

(Oh yeah, and how the hell did Picard meet Kirk, Spock, Mcoy and Scotty and not get any of them together?!)

no offense but those are all extremely uninteresting things to focus on.

i'd prefer they focus on adventure, discovery, fun and neat effects

Since this is remake, my answer is no, no holes will be filled. They're starting from scratch.

I disagree. Even if some of the holes are filled incidentally. Uhura may get a full name if for no other reason than....why wouldn't she?

She's not the same Uhura as the one seen in the original series, just some of the character in the new BSG are not the same as the ones in the old BSG.

For that matter, "Spock" is Spock's first name as far as we can tell. It's his surname, the one he shares with Sarek and Amanda, that we do not yet know.

(Of course Vulcans might place surname first. But we should still realize that the family name of "Mr Spock" is not Spock.)

Wll those questions will intered no-one except absolutely diehard fans...why would they answer them? I mean this is most pointless minutiae.

I always assumed that vulcans only had one name.

A lot of people make this mistake. In This Side of Paradise, Leila Kalomi says to Spock something like you never told me you had another name. He says, "You couldn't pronounce it." This indicates to me that Spock does have another name, but we've never heard it. And I hope we never will!

As to the O.P., I think it will just create more new holes. I do hope they finally give Uhura a first name, though. My understanding is that the non-canon name Nyota Uhura means "Star Freedom" in Swahili.

Hell, anything is possible. Sulu's first name, Hikaru, I think started out in a novel and is supposed to mean, "The Shining One."

Also, Mrs. Sarek, aka Amanda née Grayson (her maiden name is another piece of fanfic that could be canonized in the new movie), says in "Journey to Babel" that she has learned to pronounce "her Vulcan name" with difficulty. The context is such that Kirk tries to address her as "Mrs. Sarek", at which she chides him gently for the incorrect form of address and basically offers "her Vulcan name" as the correct one but laments that Kirk cannot hope to properly pronounce it.

The implication is that "her Vulcan name" is the surname she now shares with Sarek, and probably thus the surname that Spock shares with both of them.

It is of course possible that Vulcans don't believe in surnames. Perhaps Amanda has been given a new, Vulcan name in place of "Amanda" to better blend her into the society. Spock's second name could also be another given name rather than a family name.

I would like to see it done in a "natural way". Meaning through out the run of the series, as the series goes on.

Such as when Kirk is first given command of the Enterprise, he can be intruduced as "Captain James Tiberius Kirk".

When he first looks at the records of his crew for the first time, he can see that Uhura's first name is Nyota and say "it means 'Freedom' of some sort" and when he sees Spocks last name and say something like "How the hell do you pronounce that?!" with out actually giving the name away. He can also find out that he is the son of Sarek, and Amanda Greyson.

Tell me what plane of reality are you on? Same Uhura, different actress. Duh.

And I suppose the Benedict-Starbuck and the Sackhoff( or whatever the hell her name is)-Starbuck is the same?

Oh, no. The new Starbuck is a great improvement on the old - better character, much better actor (now, granted that calling someone a better actor than Benedict is faint praise indeed).

Similarly, Abram's remake is likely to be a great improvement on what we've seen lately. :)
