Supernatural 3x16 "No Rest For the Wicked" Season finale SPOILERS

I honestly don't know how they'll manage Sam getting Dean out. IMO, either Ruby or Meg is going to have to possess Dean's body to keep it from getting too ripe. Somehow, I don't think what's left of that family that Lilith was "playing with" is going to offer up their freezer for Sam to stash Dean in, you know? :alienblush:

Also, to be fair, it's pretty much easy to piss all over Smallville in terms of quality, especially these days. :guffaw: At least the ratings rose to 3 million when the finals got in. So that's pretty cool.

final ratings

So, they went back up to 3 million against the CSI finale, and new Office and Grey's. I can't complain post strike.

Last year when Dean first sold his soul, I thought it'd be pretty cool if they actually had him go to hell, and he manages to bust out in some how soon after (I thought maybe with the help of John, but can't happen now), and possess his own body. Having him be a bit ambiguous, see him slowly developing demon like powers, and seeming to slip a little towards the darkside. You know, kinda flipping the relationship with Sam and Dean.

Nifty idea. :techman: However they do it, it should be interesting. Now we just have to get Temis hooked. :p Break her Smallville spell. I'm just soooo glad they're renewed for 22 episodes already. There are two articles out in the trades claiming that CW may not make it past next year because it's drowning so badly in red ink. I may post the links in TV/media if I can find them. One of them itemizes item by item every mistake the CW has made.

Even if Dean gets out and repossesses his body, that's not going to be very fun to walk around in. The hellhound tore the, ahem, hell out of it. :p

Maybe if Ruby will kindly do them the favor of possessing Dean's meatsuit, they can take him to the emergency room to get stitched up. :techman::lol:

Wow, Deadmeatdiggory, you weren't kidding about the Smallville finale. There's a thread bitching about how terrible it was. :p Somehow I don't think Smallville will fare well when Michael Rosenbaum leaves next season.

Don't the human bodies heal up when possessed by "demons", and it's only after they're exorcised that the body goes back to being damaged?

That's how I understood it to work, Bob. Meg fell out of the seven story building, but she was fine as long as demon Meg was inside her. Once Meg was exorcised, the real Meg Masters succumbed to her injuries.

Yeah, I guess it would. Like I said, this should be interesting. I want to see Jensen Ackles play Ruby. He was great as establishing the shape shifter as a separate individual with Dean's face.

Yeah, it's always interesting to see Jensen playing Dean in different circumstances, or other characters.

No doubt there will be scene where Dean repossesses his body and has to claw his way out of his coffin:p

No, they can't put him in a coffin. They've got to keep the body fresh. I definitely think we'll see Ruby possess Dean's meatsuit. It's a way to keep Jensen in the action without it being Dean. With the budget cuts, who knows if they can even afford Katie Cassidy part time next season? I'm just glad that they managed to keep Jim Beaver around. Bobby rocks the house. "Family doesn't stop at blood, boy!"

As someone with an extended family of many adoptees, that line forever cemented my love for Mr. Singer.

I don't usually post about this show but I have to say that I thought the episode was absolutely excellent. I don't know why people complained about this season, it had some really fun installments.

I have grown to really like these characters, and I must say, I really have no clue where the story will go. I can't wait for Season 4 to start and that's not something I really feel about a television show.

Most people liked the season; it's just that they were uneasy about the two new female characters since they knew Bela was a network mandate, and that's why Ellen didn't return. That started the season off shaky, but I think it recovered with some excellent episodes. The ending of Dean's "deal arc" really seems to have struck an emotional chord with the fandom all around the online boards. Ackles is so extraordinary at conveying Dean's fear without histrionics, that's what put the episode over the top. What other show could get away with its two leads singing Bon Jovi when one of them is about to die? I really liked how Jared was able to cry with the snot running out of his nose--not being a "pretty crier" but someone who looked genuinely emotionally distraught.

It's hard for me to fathom that Ackles was the runner up to Tom Welling for the Clark Kent role. I'm glad it worked out this way, but I look at Welling and I look at Ackles, and there's no comparison. Not in my opinion. Ackles must have had a lousy audition that day.

Kripke said they'll be going back to the subdued lighting for next season and to more character based episodes, so I think season four will end up a fan favorite. Bela (poor Lauren Cohan) will be gone, so the fans should be happy. I sure hope we see Rufus again.

I really enjoyed this one but it was the final minutes that really were its best in my opinion. Shows all the time have cliffhanger endings and most are good but there are only a select few for me personally that are so mindblowing that generate such a visceral reaction and sear forever into one's memory that I can count them on one hand. TNG' "The Best of Both Worlds" for one and now this will be another(though I'm not saying "No Rest for the Wicked"' as an episode is better or on par with BoBW because it is not--it is just for shocking endings it is up there).

I really didn't think the writers would actually go through with letting Dean die. I just assumed there would be some opportunity that arose to get Dean out of the deal. So when he was mauled so graphically by the hell hound I thought maybe Sam would somehow possess the ability to resurrect him or heal him. But then when nothing happened and Sam realized Dean was actually dead with no sign of life in his eyes I was floored. The writers weren't satisfied with that they went one step further to show they weren't afraid to pull any punches and were wholly committed to doing the bold creative thing and see the deal be collected on without an easy out by giving us our first glimpse of hell and the scene perfectly captured the suffering and endless horror you would associate with it. That visual of Dean in hell was unforgettable and dramatic as far as images goes. I won't soon forget it.

I thought the idea of shore leave for a demon was entertaining. I also really thought the young actress portaying Lilith was fantastic. I loved the way she could turn on a dime from a seemingly sweet child to an angry sadistic evil little girl and be convincing. And there were quite a few moments where I laughed because of her comic timing and delivery--the scene at the dinner table when she goes after grandpa and poor grandpa was hung out to dry as the parents protected themselves or when she had her scene with her dad.

The recap at the start of the episode was informative and covered a lot of important information efficiently.

I enjoyed the "Bon Jovi" sing-along between the two and Jared's expressions were priceless. I thought the idea of putting holy water into the sprinkler system was a rather clever and inventive idea. I also enjoyed the scene and thought it was necessary between Sam and Dean about being each others' weak spots and the demons using it against the two of them.

I have no idea how they are going to get out of this particular mess and will avoid all spoilers and speculations as hard as that might be because I suspect and hope the season premiere will be as good as this episode was A-.

Hell, I can tell you why Welling got it right off the top of my head. Ackles lacks that "corn-fed" look, while Welling looks like he never eats anything else.

Pretty good finale. I'm also leaning toward the idea that Ruby will inhabit Dean's body for a time while she and Sam work to get Dean out of Hell.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm worried that "Ruby" will make a wisecrack about Sam having a cute ass, causing the majority of this show's fanbase to explode, throwing the Earth off its axis.

ROTFLMAO! :guffaw: The sheer entertainment value of watching the fandom go into vaporlock would be priceless. Some chick on another board was trying to convince people that Dean was a misogynist because she was terribly offended that Dean had called Ruby "sexist names" like "bitch" and "skank." There's always going to be fans who have a hissy over something like that or other.

Just caught up with the last two episodes with help from the CW website since I accidentally deleted one from my DVR. Pretty intense stuff, I certainly didn't think it would play out in such a straight manner, that hellhound attack was quite well done!

And yes, best use of Bon Jovi I've ever seen. I guess he does rock...sometimes. Dean was right, that was better than some sappy scene.

I love the idea of Ruby possessing Dean's body. It serves several good story purposes. One it keeps the body from decaying (though it wouldn't be healed, per say). One it keeps Jensen there (and the boy's to hot to be gone from the screen for long). It keeps Ruby trying to manipulate Sam. It saves money but not having to use another actor, and it keeps Dean front and center in Sam's mind at all times.

Plus it gives the slash fans and giant big o.

And could you imagine them using the same light and bright photography, once Sam leaves the house. How jarring would that be.

What I really want to see in the next few weeks is some reactions by the writers. To see how they thought it went, how they felt about the fan reaction, and stuff like that. Because those last two episodes were exceptionally solid, and worked on pretty much every layer.

Well...I finally found a way of watching this seasons (I do plan on buying the DVDs when they're released).

Geez...what a good season in general. I can't think of one episode that really disappointed. Like everyone else I found Bella annoying and was glad she died, but I didn't mind Ruby too much. At least she helped move the plot along! Like every other TV show this season I can't help but wonder what they would have done with another 8-9 episodes. Oh, and what a season Finale! I think the idea of Ruby possessing Dean's body is a good one, at least until Sam figures out how to get Dean out of there. It's too bad they didn't just wrap it up with a two parter like last season, but I guess they gotta save SOMETHING for next season. Should be a good story-arc, Sam obsessing about how to save Dean. Over all I think this season has really reconfirmed my fan status of Supernatural (as if it was ever in doubt). Aside from House, MD I think they have some of the best writing out there on television right now.
