^Nothing has been announced yet one way or the other. It will probably depend on the success of These Haunted Seas.

My guess -- and this is really a guess, as I haven't talked with Marco about this -- is that the next trade omnibus, if there is one, will include Cathedral, Lesser Evil, Rising Son, and Unity. These Haunted Seas only includes two books because Twilight and This Gray Spirit were doorstops. :)

Will there be an omnibus for the third and fourth books in the Mission Gamma series?

You reckon they'd get away with stopping halfway?

If any of the next few novels are out of print, there will be a demand for a next omnibus.

They don't have to "get away".

Simon & Schuster is a company that want's to make money. As long as the reprints make profit and/or improve the sales of new Relaunch titles they'll continue to publish them I guess, but if that isn't the case they will stop to do so. It's as simple as that, and no whining and demanding on internet message boards will change that.

^^Quite right. The only effective way for fans to express their desire for a second Mission Gamma omnibus is to buy the first one.

But seeing as I already have them all (bought from eBay). So I'm one who won't be purchasing the Mission Gamma series as an Omnibus. But for those who do like eBooks, there is that route.

Who said anything about people whining? There has never yet been a precedent of Pocket publishing half a ST story, then stopping, never to return. This second omnibus tells half of the "Mission Gamma" arc. It's a fair bet that, if all Book 3 and Book 4 "Mission Gamma" MMPBs have sold out their last print runs, there will be sufficient demand by readers and retailers to support another omnibus after the one that's imminent.

Someone will now say "Challenger", but I believe even Diane Carey said she was happy to stop that story where it finished up in "Gateways", with readers having to imagine what would happen next.

1) The first problem with that argument is that they have already published the rest of the Mission Gamma series, and even if the reader doesn't find the books used (and if I'm not mistaken only Book One was sold at astronomical prices on the used book market), it's readily available in the e-Book format.

2) If you had read my comment you would have noticed that I never doubted the likelihood of another omnibus, I only criticized your reasoning why there likely would be one: My comment was mainly aimed hat your "get away" comment. Your post read to me as if Pocket Books/Simon & Schuster owes it to the readers to publish a book someone might demand somewhere on the Internet and need to explain/excuse themselves when they don't.

No, I simply meant "demand" as in product demand, not petulant, foot-stamping, whining-on-a-bbs fannish demand. As for the term "get away", it's used here in Australia as a rather informal expression - to which you seem to be attributing a different meaning. Bookshops would not be happy if only half of a four-book story comes out in omnibus format, and readers have to get eBook or second hand copies of MMPBs to finish the storyline.

Pocket is re-releasing the first half of "Mission Gamma" in omnibus trade paperback to meet demand for the long out-of-print MMPBs in a cost-effective way. If the other two MMPBs are now also out of print, and in demand, there will surely be a matching omnibus of them too, perhaps with the next few titles included as well, to make up the page count.

i will definitely buy it, i´ve been waiting for the second Omnibus ever since i bought Twist of Faith

It seems that William Shatner's latest biography has been overlooked on this list. It's called Up Till Now and can be ordered here:

http://www.amazon.com/Till-Now-Auto...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1210828240&sr=8-1

I had a look at it at Chapters the other day, and there doesn't appear to be much focus on Star Trek in it (after all, he's already done two Star Trek Memories books). This one seems to be a response to the whole Shatner as pop cult phenom -- Denny Crane, Has Been, etc. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it listed on my Trek books website, and I doubt I'm going to buy it.

Also out this week is the beautifully presented IDW "Alien Spotlight" comics omnibus (Gorn, Vulcans, Andorians, Orions, Borg, Romulans). Includes two alternate covers per story, plus the sketch pages for Gorn and Romulans. My copy was waiting for me last night.

The last page is a full colour ad for the upcoming second batch of comics, focusing on Klingons (with new artwork), Betazoids, Ferengi, Tholians and The Q.
