Almost feels like HIGHLANDER: THE SERIES with so many of the villains having names starting with 'K".A lot of new significant alien species names that begin with K. Kelpiens, Khionians, Kasq, Kwejians.

So many Klingons had names like Kor and Koloth and Krang and Kahless, it was kind of a relief that Next Generation introduced a 'Worf.' And a few more non-K Klingons, like Gowron.Klingon was the worst.

TSFS started non 'K' male Klingon names (Maltz, Torg). TOS already had Mara, a female Klingon. So many Klingons had names like Kor and Koloth and Krang and Kahless, it was kind of a relief that Next Generation introduced a 'Worf.' And a few more non-K Klingons, like Gowron.
Klingons officers - not midshipmen. Enlisted?? Don't know.John M. Ford made it a plot point in the novel the Final Reflection that Klingons joining the Navy change the first letter of their name to K, Marines to M, scientists and technicians to A, etc.![]()
I blame Dune. Why are so many alien worlds so same-y?
Sisko directly appealed to the Prophets to have them make an entire armada of Dominion ships on their way from the Gamma Quadrant disappear. How does him being cut off from the Prophets suddenly shift the momentum of the DW?
MU/TH/URIt just shows who the idiots are in Deep Space 9.
That is all.
My mother always warned me - you can have an IQ of 200 and still be stupid.
Or should I have used 'Muther'?(Reference: 'Alien', to accommodate some people?)
I'm not sure I understand what you mean? The Dominion reinforcements are still gone, and there's no new ones arriving anytime soon.Sisko directly appealed to the Prophets to have them make an entire armada of Dominion ships on their way from the Gamma Quadrant disappear.
With the Wormhole completely cut off, there's no direct risk to the Dominion anymore at that scale. It completely shifts the power balance.
The forces still in the Alpha Quadrant pretty quickly got rolling on building shipyards, vessels, and cloning plenty more Jem'Hadar.I'm not sure I understand what you mean? The Dominion reinfrocements are still gone, and there's no new ones arriving anytime soon.
It absolutely does. If the Prophets were able to wipe out that large of a battle group in one fell swoop, that's a greater threat than an armada of Federation ships. The collapse of the Wormhole is what pushed the Dominion into building facilities on the Alpha side of the galaxy.Right...but that has nothing to do with the presence or absence of the wormhole, at that point in time? Once they're in the AQ, they're there.

No, I’m aware of the chain of events and stand by what I said.Apparently you are confusing this with the events of "Operation Return." I was talking about the two-part episode starting at the end of season 6. After killing J. Dax, Dukat releases a Pah-Wraith into the womhole which cuts off Sisko from the Prophets and turns him into average Starfleet Joe. It somehow makes the Dominion war efforts more successful.
No, I’m aware of the chain of events and stand by what I said.
WEYOUN: This is a disaster. Federation soldiers have landed on Cardassian soil and now you're telling me the wormhole is gone and with it any chance of getting reinforcements from the Gamma Quadrant.
DUKAT [on monitor]: I'm well aware things didn't turn out quite the way I planned, but I assure you we still achieved a great victory.
WEYOUN: Forgive me if I don't share your euphoria.
DUKAT [on monitor]: Well you should. The Bajoran people have been cut off from their gods, perhaps forever.
DAMAR: How does that help us?
DUKAT [on monitor]: Because Sisko has been cut off from the Prophets as well. And without the Prophets, he's just another Starfleet captain.
WEYOUN: And that's supposed to make me feel better?
DUKAT [on monitor]: Oh, believe me, it will.
DAMAR: We owe Gul Dukat a debt of gratitude.
WEYOUN: Unfortunately, I agree. Somehow, releasing that Pah wraith into the wormhole has shifted the momentum of the war into our favour.
Agreed. Tom Hardy's full lips and Patrick Stewart's thin lips meant that they didn't look much like each other.I don't buy Tom Hardy as a younger Picard in Nemesis. And the more they tried to force it, the harder it was for me to suspend disbelief.
Because it's a good shorthand for the viewing audience. So many Klingons had names like Kor and Koloth and Krang and Kahless, it was kind of a relief that Next Generation introduced a 'Worf.' And a few more non-K Klingons, like Gowron.
Vulcans, almost as bad. Boys have names like Sarek, Spock, Surak or Stonn and girls have names that start with T'p, like T'Pring and T'Pol. Tuvok, Selar and Saavik are, at least, exceptions! But can we get away from names that start with S or T? More like B'avi?
But for real annoyances, worlds that are mono-climates. Star Wars did the same thing with worlds that are all desert (Tattoine), arctic (Hoth) or swamp (Dagobah), and it bugs me to see a world like Vulcan that is entirely a desert, or Andoria, which seems to be entirely arctic. Our world manages to have *both* deserts and arctic regions, and jungles, and plains, and oceans, and swamps... Why are so many alien worlds so same-y?
