Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Today marks 50 years since principal photography began on the original Star Wars. Mark Hamill stepped onto the sands of Tunisia to film the very first scene of this newfangled space movie from the guy who wrote and directed American Graffiti.

There was something special about that time when the 1977 film was all there was. In retrospect, I’d say that The Empire Strikes Back was the best chapter of Star Wars, but Star Wars was the best movie.

A decent in-depth article up on the official site about it being 50 years to the day...

Star Wars: A New Hope Began Filming 50 Years Ago Today

On March 22, 1976, one of the most iconic films in history commenced principal photography in the deserts of Tunisia. It was a long road to reach that day, and there was an even longer one ahead.

I somewhat feel bad for George.

Have they ever established exactly how many Inquisitors there were? I had originally assumed it was going to be a fairly small number when they were first introduced, but they just keep adding more and more, I think we're up to Fourteenth Brother now in the Maul series. I kind of skimmed through the articles on Wookiepedia, but didn't see if it had a specific number.

No, which makes sense for their order. You're just a number with more available to replace you.

Upwards of thirty inquisitors seems to be an upper end, though it is likely half that many. They would need more during the first half of the Empire when there are still likely to be Jedi wondering around. But deep into the second half of the Empire, you will find fewer and fewer Jedi that escaped Order 66. Sure there still may be a bunch of escaped Jedi, but most of them have gone deep into hiding and won't be found by the Empire. The few that are found after that are the ones that come out of hiding to fight the Empire.

Then you have the other Force Sensitive groups that might be hunted down, either to serve or to be put down as rivals. The various Witches and Maul would be examples of that. Also Bardottan I would think might suffer a purge by the Empire.

The remainder are the Force Sensitive children that were born during or after the Fall of the Republic. What the Emperor wants to do with them is not clear. Before it was going to be his own little army of spies, but we've not seen that played out. Unless he's shipped them off to The Sith Eternal and those are who serve him post-Endor. The other likely thing is that they are ingredients for Project Necromancer.
