I watched Violations a few days ago.
When I was a kid I remember watching this episode with the idea that the three attacks on Troi, Riker and Beverly shared the same motivation, some unspecified urge to mess with people and make them unconscious.
As opposed to what's obvious watching it as an adult, it was all about wanting to rape Deanna and the other two attacks were just trying to avoid getting caught.
It might be our parents' desire to protect us from uncomfortable sexual topics that we don't make children aware enough of rape culture before they go through puberty to call it out when they see it or catch themselves starting to think that way.
