It's not remotely "over" for them until an Ai movie comes out and makes megabucks. When that happens all the studios will fall over themselves to try and do the same.
This is a really bad thing.
A.I is INCAPABLE of acting. Just like A.I. is incapable of coming up with a brilliant idea

That's not how you are supposed to use it. you get a real actor to act out the scene, then feed the video into the AI and it replaces the actor with the AI one, who pulls all the acting from the input real person. do this on a green screen and you can have one person act an entire cast.
Or old movies with the same actors, but nuder.
This already exists...it is called MocapThat's not how you are supposed to use it. you get a real actor to act out the scene, then feed the video into the AI and it replaces the actor with the AI one, who pulls all the acting from the input real person. do this on a green screen and you can have one person act an entire cast.

I've been seeing videos of this AI version on Twitter for the past few days, and just now I saw tweets saying AI will kill Hollywood, but what's sad is how overly realistic Seedance 2.0 looks. I think like James Cameron on the AI issue. AI shouldn't replace people, especially actors; it should be a human-made version.
If you can find an actor skilled enough to act for 5-10 pages of dialogue and agree to be replaced by an A.I. character, he is an idiot.Right, but mocap takes way more steps. the tracking marks, special software to translate then to model movement instructions. building the rigged 3d model, and animators still have to tweak the recorded moves.
Yeah I think it will become a reality eventually. Maybe sooner than we think. There will still be films/shows made with all human actors for a long time to come but the Entertainment industry has taken a lot.of hits over the last 10 years. Streaming has effectively changed how shows are produced and released. Hollywood alone makes almost triple the product they did 10 years ago. The pandemic totally changed the ways people want to view movies now. The theaters are dying off.My expectation is that this will be socialized in video games first. There is already live action CGI animation, so this would bring up the realism a lot. This will get the younger generation used to these AI actors, and then you can start creating shows with them. And a generation brought up on them will transition smoothly to it while the old folks will complain. But then they'll die off anyway and won't matter.
It will be like that interview with Stephen King, where he talked about critics that wrote about him when he was in the twenties no longer being alive. It won't matter that people don't like the AI actors now since by time it becomes a reality a lot of them will have passed away.
The MCU was the last big MUST see movie going experience..that is just about done with now. When was the last time we had that communal feeling of going to the movies??? Maybe Avengers Endgame, Top Gun Maverick???
Barbenheimer?
Plus whilst not remotely my thing (I saw the first one once, thought it was ok and haven't returned to the franchise since) the last two Avatar films each made as much money as Top Gun Maverick did.
