And the Next Cancelled Show is...

There's just too much stuff out there on so many TV stations, cable stations and streaming services. Good for the people getting paid, but the majority of them are going to be money losers because of how many there are. Even something acclaimed like Andor is not generating $645 million in new subscriptions to Disney+.

Yeah, exactly. There's a lot of competition out there. I would hope that any streaming service focus on quality not quantity.

The latest show I've never heard of, The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, has been canceled by Amazon after one season. It starred Naveen Andrews from Lost.

The Pharrell Williams movie Golden, set for May 5, 2025 release has been scrapped, after the director, star and studio executives watched the movie and came to the conclusion that it did not live up to the expectations set and decided to shelve the movie. It will never see the light of day. Universal is going to take a $20 million loss.

In other words, less like Golden, and closer to Pyrite.

This. It's kinda sad. Too many shows. Very few episodes a season. So if it's cancelled after one season not a whole lot has happened. The days of water cooler shows is just about over. We get a nugget here or there but that is it.

It was amazing.

A hopelessly optimistic immigrant is kicked in the balls over and over again by (subtly) bitter racist Islamophobic Americans.

We had a show that was produced locally, and while it was technically a good show, what was frustrating was the number of episodes it had. First season I think had 10 episodes, second had 8, the third 6, and then it was eventually cancelled. Being that it was a half-hour drama series, the episodes always felt like they ended before they ever got going, and because of the short seasons, felt like they barely got any momentum throughout a season.

One thing streaming shows should do is do away with season cliffhangers. This is a leftover from the broadcast era and it doesn't make much sense within a streaming show context, particularly when a show is not guaranteed to come back. What they should do instead is have self-contained seasons that don't rely on hooks for viewers to come back. If another season is produced, then great, there's more to look forward to. But even if a show does come back, it will sometimes be up to a year or more between seasons, in which a viewer will most likely have forgotten what happened anyway, and cliffhangers I feel are a little unfair to viewers in that respect. Just as an example, I had been watching a show on Netflix and the season ended in the middle of a scene. The show did return more than a year later with it resuming from that scene, but it was very disorienting.

The next show to be canceled I've never heard of before is Amazon's The Sticky, gone after one season.

I heard of it but don't remember what I heard about it. Just remember the name.
About a Canadian maple syrup heist, starring Margo Martindale and produced by Jamie Lee Curtis. Haven't watched it yet, but heard it ended on a cliffhanger.
