Game The Most Disliked 2-Part or Double Episode, 2025 Edition

I'll save the only non-sequential two-parter on here, "That Hope Is You." Mostly on the strength of the first part, which I find INCREDIBLE. And part II... works well enough. The end of the episode sums the season up nicely.

TNG, Season 6: “Birthright”
TNG, Season 7: “Gambit”
VOY, Season 4: “The Killing Game”
VOY, Season 5: “Dark Frontier”
VOY, Season 6 & 7: “Unimatrix Zero”
VOY, Season 7: “Flesh And Blood”
VOY, Season 7: “Workforce”
ENT, Season 1: “Broken Bow”
ENT, Season 1 & 2: “Shockwave”
ENT, Season 4: “Storm Front”
ENT, Season 4: “Affliction/Divergence”
PIC, Season 1: “Et In Arcadia Ego”
PRO, Season 1: "Lost And Found"
PRO, Season 1: "A Moral Star"
PRO, Season 2: "Into The Breach"

PRO, Season 2: "Ascension"

Queen to Pawn 7,

VOY, Season 5: “Dark Frontier”

It's flawed in ways, but it's still entertaining as heck, even if superficially so. I blame the really good music that's rare in post-Jones Trek as well as the great acting for some of that... And yet, that's not enough to put it above a story that had more potential. "Dark Frontier" just plays it safe and makes convenience tweaks whereas "Descent" had far more potential but fumbled it by doing too much, but averaging both episodes from each stories into one net score, "Descent" is still better. Which is saying something as some of pt 2 really stinks, but I digress.

Actually, "Dark Frontier" fumbles it more in other ways as it, when not trying to be "First Contact Borg Invasion Bits redux complete with screamin'", actually points out the target alien species and sends over multiple cubes.

One would think that the Hansen technology would have been standard scanning issue every since they were assimilated but, nope, the gizmos work as long as the plot needs 'em to.

Plus, the Borg now have centralized rooms for way too much. More than one bio-extract chamber would make things more efficient, and the Borg cube is surely not as cramped as a fully-stocked sardine tin, no? Centralized technology as well, leading to an easy escape at the end. But A+ for effort for a script that was showing the Borg and Trekdom were continuing to run out of steam.

All picknitery aside, this scene I find more compelling than the Trek outing that introduced the Queen to begin with:

But where the plot meat is, DF < Descent.

I'm going to save TNG's “Gambit”. It's not only one of the very rare Captain Data stories, but it also gives Picard a chance to go undercover and play a bad guy.

TNG, Season 6: “Birthright”
VOY, Season 4: “The Killing Game”

Saving "Birthright".

The first part, I love Data's story and how he now can dream.

The second part is a good story with a very STAR TREK ending. Those young Klingons will be out in society... Klingons who don't have hatred about Romulans and have an understanding of them. Spread that enough, and all that bitterness and hatred goes away more and more. I will always defend this episode.

VOY, Season 4: “The Killing Game”

Seven: "When the Americans arrive and the fighting begins, I don't intend to be standing next to a piano singing 'Moonlight Becomes You.'"

"The Killing Game" is amusingly crazy. I love the rain!

VOY, Season 6 & 7: “Unimatrix Zero”

VOY, Season 7: “Workforce”

PRO, Season 2: "Into The Breach"

PRO, Season 2: "Ascension"

Saving "Unimatrix Zero". I find it fascinating that people who became Borg have this virtual place to return to their lost selfes and to find a way to revolte against the Borg. One of the better Borg stories in Voyager.

Saving "BROKEN BOW".

Take out the Temporal Cold War stuff, and this would have equalled DS9 and VOY as best pilots in the franchise.

It was a fantastic beginning otherwise.

"A Moral Star" was an amazing closer to the first quarter of PRO. The kids go in harm's way to help others, and knock it out of the park. Especially loved the "kitty got claws" moment.

Hey I think the list is missing PRO, Season 1: "Supernova".
Oh, correct! I'll save it now. I sobbed when Hologram Janeway died.

Flesh and Blood was qute an entertaining episode, even if the Hirogen popping up that far from their space in S4 was strange.

VOY, Season 7: “Workforce”
ENT, Season 1 & 2: “Shockwave”
ENT, Season 4: “Storm Front”

VOY, Season 7: “Workforce” I was surprised to like this one as much as I did. This isn't the first time I've saved Workforce on one of these threads. It sounds impossible that a planet with a shortage of workers takes to stealing the memories and crew of star ships to staff their businesses would be anything but laughable but I've thought it's a good couple of episodes.

A first for me, saving a PIC episode: PIC, Season 1: “Et In Arcadia Ego”. I'm about halfway through the second season and this double episode's been the best PIC I've seen so far. Loved it.

My gripe with Workforce is that I think Under the Surface, the SG-1 episode with the same basic plot (the crew is kidnapped, their memories are modified and they're enslaved on a mining planet) is even better.

I agree that SG-1's "BENEATH THE SURFACE" was a better version. And it aired first. (About 4-5 months prior to "WORKFORCE".) Very possibly coincidental, given the short time between both airing.

Saving "AFFLICTION"/"DIVERGENCE".

I really liked this two-parter. Gave some good material for Reed, and I love how both Bashir and O'Brien were right with their ideas about the differences in "TRIALS AND TEIBBLE-ATIONS".

I am going to save Enterprise's “Shockwave” as for it me it's the highlight of season 1 and probably the high point of the entire Temporal Cold War plot. It's a good solid action-adventure story that came right when Enterprise desperately needed it.

ENT, Season 4: “Storm Front”
PRO, Season 1: "Lost And Found"
PRO, Season 2: "Into The Breach"

I feel that so many Prodigy episodes in the final run seems a little unfair since I feel Prodigy has, generally, been very good. I wonder if there's a lack of familiarity with these episodes?

Saving "Ascension". Unexpected return of a villian and, once again, Our Heroes have to make difficult choices. Also, many double episodes of Star Trek have a good first episode - getting the set-up right - but fail to deliver on the resolution. This is the other way round in that the second episode is the better one.

PRO, Season 1: "Lost And Found"

~ I'm certainly unfamiliar with the second season (except for the first episode), and I've only seen the first season once. I really rather liked the series premiere "Lost And Found" so I'll save it now, but the following eps didn't quite live up to my expectations and I found too many annoyances in the stories, characters, and settings. Some of the scenery and background art is stunning, though! Some amazing designs and beautiful artwork.

ENT, Season 4: “Storm Front”
PRO, Season 2: "Into The Breach"

Okay, I'm not a Storm Front hater by any means, I think it's a perfectly okay episode with some nice scenes that does the job it was written to do (seal the Temporal Cold War in a box and put it away somewhere so we don't have to think about it anymore). But “Into The Breach” is just a better episode, in my opinion. Sorry Enterprise, if you were against something worse I would've jumped in to rescue you at the last moment, but it wasn't meant to be.

ENT, Season 4: “Storm Front”

I loathe "Storm Front"! Only watched it once. A perfect winner.

New (small) game for the end of this thread! Perhaps the inclusion of "Unification" will be controversial, but it makes sense to my autistic brain. :bolian::beer::angel:

SNAP MINI-GAME
THE MOST DISLIKED THREE-PART EPISODE

TNG Season 5 & DIS Season 3: "Unification I, II, & III"
DS9, Season 2: "The Homecoming/The Circle/The Siege"
ENT, Season 4: "Borderland/Cold Station 12/The Augments"
ENT, Season 4: "The Forge/Awakening/Kir'Shara"
ENT, Season 4: "Babel One/United/The Aenar"

Saving the Li Nalas trilogy. While the ending felt a bit like a convenient Reset Button hit, it was one of the better forays into Bajor's growing pains as a free society.

And you're not the only autistic one here.

TNG Season 5 & DIS Season 3: "Unification I, II, & III"
ENT, Season 4: "Borderland/Cold Station 12/The Augments"
