I'm just saddened that they spent so much money on something that will probably be considered a flop. That money could have gotten us another season or two of LD or Prodigy
Not sure budgeting works that way, but it would have been nice.

if this tanks, this could be the last we see of Georgiou, and streaming Trek movies could be dead as well. A shame. There's a lot they could do with 'Long Treks'.
That would be the biggest tragedy…execs always learn the wrong lessons. If this flops they’ll say “I guess people don’t want streaming Trek movies,” when what people are really saying is they don’t want THIS streaming Trek movie.

There is a Everything Everywhere... cast member cameo in this movie -- anybody know who it is?
Spoiler tag it, of course.

Thanks!

The phase phight is a nice idea, but it brings up the classic question why nothing falls through the floors :D
And how does her heel get stuck in the wall, but is fine again after?

Alok was born in the 20th century. During the Eugenics wars, an Augment turned him into one (?!)
The WMD Godsend was ordered by Georgiou, and people killed themselves to not live in her world.
It works itself from planet to planet, destroying an entire quadrant. (Did that destroy Hobus/Romulus?)
Her eyes are not yellow anymore in that chapter

The 31 ship has a mix of TOS and TNG bridge sounds
When the floating platforms launch and smash into each other, there is 0 inertia effect :D

Ok some rough thoughts after finishing it... It was cringe, but it didn't piss me off. I probably liked it better than ST09 and STID. And again I did finish it, so that's at least something. And for better or worse, it (mostly) stayed in its lane.

Stay for the credits and you'll see Balenciaga helped with some costumes!

Definitely could feel the design by committee. Oh, what if she went through a YA hunger games thing to become the emperor? Liberal taking from Men in Black and Suicide Squad. Michelle Paradise and Jenny Lumet are consulting producers, but not James Gunn? Quips turned up to 11, but at least they were more natural than in the Abramsverse films or SNW.

Eyeballs, eyeballs, eyeballs... Kurtzman sure has a thing for eyeball torture. Poor mech suit guy going out with a drill to the eyeball. At least no torture porn.

But, it was very PG-13. In a way, it reminded me of THE SHIELD. Shit, shit, shit, shit... but no fucks given.

Rachel Garrett was... ok. Just a little on the spectrum.

That was one creepy doll. So good job on that one.

Kinda sad the Deltan died so early on. She seemed cool.

The music was very background wallpaper. No memorable sequences whatsoever. Jeff Russo usually at least leaves some kind of memorable track or two.

Just what year is it? Garrett is promoted from Lt to Lt Commander. But San looks just a few years older than the 2250's. Hell, when did Georgiou get back?

At the end of the day, someone enjoying this would likely come down to really being a fan of Georgiou from DISCOVERY and buying into the further development of her character arc here.

Am I going to buy the Blu-ray / 4K? No. Am I going to rewatch it again? Maybe before my P+ promo is up in two months.

Star Trek: Section 31

There's no way to say it other than to say it: What the fuck was that?

I spent seven years defending Discovery across five seasons. I'm a Hardcore Disco Fan. Just to be totally clear. I was notorious for it in fact. I'm also a staunch defender of Georgiou and have been intrigued by Section 31 since 1998, when DS9 was on.

I wanted the Section 31 series, but I can tell you this is NOT what I had in mind. I basically wanted "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" as a TV series. That's what I wanted. Not this.

What was not the problem? The list for that is shorter: Georgiou, Alok, and Garrett aren't the problem. Quasi wasn't a problem either, as comic relief. All four of them would be fine in a better story. The set for Georgiou's establishment looks beautiful.

What was the problem? All the other characters, the story if you want to call it that, and the weird tangents of dialogue some of the characters would go off on. Not to mention story elements that super don't make sense.

I said I'd give a quick review and then a more in-depth review, but forget it. This is the only review. Out of all the things they could've done, I can't believe this is the story they would choose for a TV Movie.

How do I rate it? It's a loss but, like I said, it's not a total loss. I give it a 3.

The quadrant-threatening WMD only closed the passageway, no further damage? Or did that cripple the Empire?
Garrett is a Lt Cdr at the end.
Quasi as Alok has dark eyes, and hers are yellow again
Fuzz has a wife Wisp who uses the same robot with different hair :D
I did not hear any Klingon music though.

It was ok, not terrible, but also not amazing. The dialog was forgettable, the story not very interesting, but the visuals and camerawork were not as bad as most reviews said. Only the floating platform fight was too blurry and boring. The costumes were great, especially her shark mouth diamond dress at the end. Did not like the new Antedian look, but the Cheron and the Andorian were nice. Was excited to see the smuggler ship and then sad to not see more :D. Nanokins are a fresh, creative idea, and I liked that design as well. Alok's story could've been interesting, but didn't even matter much (how can an Augment turn non-augmented people into Augments?). Tortue was a little on the nose... or in the nose... but none of the fights were severely overdone, as many reviews said. Nice LCARS and a great looking Terran ship! I actually want a sequel on Turkana IV now :D

For a much better take on this set up, track down the DC Comics "Mirror Universe Saga" set in between TSFS and TVH (yes, I know... but they pull it off).
