Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Is life so boring that reviewing irrelevant data to the daily life is necessary to have the day be interesting?

Given the quality of your posts, you seem to be a world-class expert on the subject of boredom and how to inflict it on others, so why don't you tell us? :rommie:

I do find it interesting that they went all in on a project centered around kids, given the franchise's, uh, less than stellar record in that area. First the Ewok movies, then TPM - which caused a multi-decade hate fest eventually culminating in Lucas getting booted out of his own company.

Why would he stick around to be abused?

While I wouldn't have minded getting a second season, I'm not going to be totally heart broken if we don't.
I know it hasn't always worked out, but I do at least have to compliment Lucasfilm for trying different things, rather than just doing a million different series that are just doing the same thing over and over again. While it might not be great for them financially, I'd much rather see them take a chance and do something that fails then play it safe and boring.

While I'd like to see more Skeleton Crew, but the concept seems done in one. Once they solve the mystery of At Atin and get the kids home it's over. Can't see a second adventure with the kids on the ship. Assuming the mystery is solved at the end of the season.

If they stop making content tomorrow what does that mean? Oh no, I have another hour a week to do other stuff.

I truly don't get the obsession over ratings. Is life so boring that reviewing irrelevant data to the daily life is necessary to have the day be interesting?

Because, if so, I'll be happy to take help in my life for planting and other household chores. I can even provide you numbers just to make sure it's interesting.
The obsession over ratings is basically that people want more of either the show and/or more product in general from the service.

If ratings go in the tank for more than one show, then so will subscriptions for the service (and thus revenue, the source of making more).

Like for me , new Star Wars and Marvel stuff will keep me subscribed to Disney Plus... but if it slows down, I may cancel. Which means even less will be made.

Has Star Wars ever crossed over with another franchise? I mean full on crossovers, not just silly cameos. The closes thing I can think of right now is the Star Wars episode of The Muppet Show, which had 3PO, R2, Chewie and Mark Hamill as both himself and Luke. I'm not counting the Family Guy episodes, since they were Family Guy adaptations of The Original Trilogy, not crossovers with the two casts interacting.
I still want a (Star Trek × Star Wars) cross over where some of the Star Wars characters come over into the Star Trek Universe.
Then I want a seperate (Star Wars × Star Trek) cross over where the Star Trek characters comes over into the Star Wars Universe.

I could see tying At Attain into the larger Thrawn and First Order plotlines if the Imperial Remnant takes over the place as a financial source. Or in the New Republic has to defend the planet from pirates and Imperials to stabilize the New Republic so it is stable for the next two decades prior to the rise of the First Order.

At the risk of sounding extremely sarcastic but this is my first questions:

Unless I have a financial stake in the success of these companies I don't really mind if they stop making content. I have plenty of content to enjoy and rewatch for the rest of my life. Now, maybe I'm the odd one out here who doesn't mind just enjoying old content, but with Star Wars, I rewatch the original films, and play older games like Battlefront (2005), or Dark Forces, and read books that are older, as well as ny of the newer stuff.

And, if they stop making new stuff that just means I can actually keep up with it. So, yeah, I just don't see the need for newer stuff to constantly be made as a consumer. Yes, Disney will want that, but I'm not Disney.

IIRC, Lucas wasn't "booted" out of anything. He willingly left Lucasfilm and let it get sold off because he didn't want to deal with the fandom any longer.

If this was going to go for a second season, then I'd assume they'll solve the mystery set up this season, but something will happen at the end to keep them away from At Attin or force them to leave. But since it sounds like this will be a one and done.

This is why I care about ratings, I like to have some idea if we'll be getting more of a show I like.

There's enough other stuff I like on it, so I'd probably keep it even without new Disney or Marvel content, but I have to question if the service could servive without them.

Me too. I'm kind of amazed with all of the crossovers going on lately nobody has attempted it, it seems like the most obvious one to do.

Yes, we can rewatch the old stuff, but a lot of us like getting new stuff, and yes old stuff can still be good, but after a while you will run out of old stuff, and if they stop making new stuff, then you have no way to get more.
And, if they stop making new stuff that just means I can actually keep up with it. So, yeah, I just don't see the need for newer stuff to constantly be made as a consumer. Yes, Disney will want that, but I'm not Disney.
Because those of us who are caught up like to continue to get new stuff.

Did he ever say it was specifically because of the fandom? I thought he just decided to retire.

I like a lot of things. I don't get any of them. My favorite books I will never get sequels to. Doesn't stop me from rereading them. My favorite shows are ones I rewatch time and again. I don't constantly desire new things. And I don't think anyone's quality of life will decrease if it stops. Honestly, I don't think anyone will notice.

It isn't a bad thing to not always get what I want.

Yes, he did. He was tired of not pleasing people and opted to spend time with his family.

Same here.

Again, same here. Star Wars as a property has been more underwhelming than not for quite a long time, so Disney/LFL no longer producing content would never stand as a loss to me.
