What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

think VOY became the Kate/Seven/Doctor show
It did, but it was never quite as stark as TOS. You didn't see the away team consist of Janeway, the Doc, and Seven every week.

I think TNG varied...
Early on: Picard, Data, Riker, Wes, Worf, everyone else.
Later on: Picard, Data, Worf, everyone else.

Ds9 was just plain ensemble. When Bashir foundered, they introduced S31 and his genetic skills to salvage him.

VOY was badly done ensemble. When a character foundered, he was kicked rudely to the side.

They should have showed "The Great Tribble War", or at least let Worf drop-kick or punt a few in front of the camera. I mean, if Sculler or Mully made a blatant dig at Kirk... Oh wait, it's Dulmer and Lucsly. Or Dullard and Slurpy, it's just silly references aimed at the X-Files leads as that show was popular at the time.

The Great Tribble War clearly wasn't 100% successful since a child aboard the Enterprise-D has a pet tribble when the crew and families are being evacuated in GEN. That's in 2371, nearly two years before the DS9 crew travel back in time and return with tribbles from K-7. :)

Maybe it was a Klingon-approved genetically modified version that bred more slowly. Or just a pre-Edward version, if you consider the ST episode to be canon.

The common mythology is that TOS was "all message, all the time". But Tribbles actually HAD an intended message. Tribbles were fine as long as they lived in their native ecosystem. (What the heck LIVED there that was eating Tribbles like M&Ms?) Funny that even Gerrold then had the Klingons engineering a predator. Of course maybe the Tribbles NATURAL predators were more than even the Klingons could handle?

I haven't seen the Tribbles Short Treks, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to want to.

Yeah, if the Short Treks fit into two categories, "absolutely stuff that literally happened" (Calypso/Runaway), and "just having fun" (Ephraim and Dot), The Trouble with Edward sits next to Ephraim and Dot. Especially the post-credits scene.

I think of it as a story related directly by Edward somehow. As in, he’s an unreliable narrator and it’s told from his unhinged perspective.

I can’t remember what happened in Ephraim and Dot.

The fact that he dies in the end of the story makes me love this idea even more.

That's the cartoon with the tardigrade. Lots of Looney Tunes chases.

Was Gerrold inspired by what happened when they introduced rabbits to Australia?
