Star Trek Soundtracks

Just stumbled on to this excellent thread and read every word as the music played in my head!
I want to thank you all for making my Thanksgiving a little more thankful!
My family will not agree, however, as the are Musical Troglodytes!
They will have endure a house filled with premium music from our Beloved Star Trek!
In my youth, I was a Conductor of sorts, and I have a penchant for “conducting” as I listen.

Especially the Theme from “First Contact “
And “Insurrection“…

Lots to cue and for entrances, exits and dynamics!!!
Plus, still a tear, or two (or 12)…
Thank You!

La-La Land just announced volume 6 of the 1701 Collection yesterday, with CDs shipping August 5. The collection appears to be selling well, as they've also announced that there's less than 200 copies of volume 1 remaining in stock, so if you're on the fence, you may want to pick that up soon.

Interestingly, they kept in the language about "forthcoming volumes" of the 1701 Collection having more music. This could be a copy/paste error from previous announcements, as it's pretty much the same wording, but it would be fantastic if they've worked out a deal with GNP to re-release the expanded scores of The Cage, Where No Man Has Gone Before, Amok Time, and The Doomsday Machine that were on the original 15 disc set.

Alternatively, maybe they can release just the additional tracks from those four episodes to complement the GNP discs. (FSM was able to release a few minutes of music on The Ron Jones Project that GNP hadn't included on the original BOBW soundtrack, so it wouldn't be the first time this happened.)

In unrelated news, I finally managed to find a not-stupidly expensive copy of LLL's TNG Collection Volume 1 on eBay! Unfortunately, the case was shattered in transit as the seller didn't wrap it well enough. The CDs are ok, so I'm gonna try to find a cheap 3 or 4 disc CD set and swap the cases out. I'm really happy with the music on this volume; it's some of the best TNG music outside of the Ron Jones Project. Haven's been one of my favorite scores for a long time (and apparently Rick Berman hated it, which explains a lot about why I like it) and I'm glad to have it. The music box from The Survivors keeps coming up on randomize, though. I'm starting to feel like Troi!

Funny how we can extrapolate from the tiniest things.

But the expanded / cleaned up Where No Man Has Gone Before is one of the absolute jewels of the TOS Box and I'm very sad that this is not readily available for fans everywhere. Same with The Cage.

As much as Amok Time and The Doomsday Machine are their own kinds of masterpieces I didn't feel that the jump in quality and additional material was as high with those two.

Sadly, some posts on the FSM forum confirm that the "forthcoming volumes" language was wrong and Volume 6 is indeed the last volume.

It was released digitally. There's like 116 songs on it. It was quite a big score.
That's cool (less cool if each track is a minute long :p ). I don't remember the music from Prodigy particularly standing out in my mind, but that also means I don't remember it standing out as being terrible. :)

A lot of it doesn't, but that theme song and sequence is amazing and made most of the soundtrack worth it. Also, as someone with Apple Music, I just like keeping a Star Trek related playlist which I listen to from time to time.

Did she say anything about Strange New Worlds 2?

(I NEED Lower Decks season 4. Not her though.)

That's great news about Prodigy! Hopefully SNW S2 follows shortly thereafter.

As to Lower Decks, I, too, would love to have more than just the S1 release. Considering they haven't put out S2 or S3, though, I wouldn't think it's coming any time soon.

I didn't ask about SNW.

I'm bummed only the first season of Lower Decks music was released. I wonder why they stopped.

I don't have Apple Music and hate streaming my music, and man, the Prodigy releases were a bit of a mess, with later releases overlapping to the point where one could theoretically need to triple-dip...and yet, no single overall release. I bought one I didn't need (and since it was digital I'm not sure I can return, but it's not a big deal), and then one of my downloads was incomplete and missing tracks, though that was more of a nuisance than anything else.

Well, this is a surprise, but a welcome one. Lakeshore is releasing a second volume of music from Picard Season 3 this Friday! Great to have more of this excellent music.

I hope they also release a listening order for those of us who'd like to put the two volumes into a single playlist.

It's annoying to me when Star Trek TV music is released without reference to the episode in which it was featured. I like organizing my ST music by episode when possible, versus just saying, "It was played at some point in S2 of DISCO."

That said, I didn't realize the original release of PIC S3 music left so much excluded.

It was a fantastic release, but it was 2 and a half hours while the season had about 10 hours of runtime. Things were gonna get left out. I'm glad they're releasing more. I wish they'd do a second volume of Discovery's second season, as that also had a lot of great music not on the album, but I seriously doubt that'd happen.

I also like organizing my music by episode. I'll figure out the order (hopefully) if they don't release an official playlist.

And yes, we desperately need more Lower Decks.

Memory Alpha has been somewhat helpful in linking music to episodes on occasion, but there's a lot that's missing. I wish the people putting the releases together would include that information, as it seems trivial and I don't know of any reason not to include it.
