This thread / poll is a bit of a experiment of sorts. Enterprise gets the label of one of the least popular Star Trek series. if I find that rings true with this poll , I won't be surprised. What I'm curious to find out is if most fans of Enterprise are hardcore fans , a smaller but vocal group, or as I suspect, most fans of the this show do enjoy it but still does not consider it their " favourite " Star Trek show. I'm posting this in the Enterprise forum because I imagine General Trek forum has a broader spectrum of fans by default . But one might think this forum in theory should have the more die hard fans present. I'm curious about the profile specifically of the Enterprise viewer.

And I'm open to being totally wrong with the premise of Enterprise being less popular than the other Treks.

A request. For those who vote Enterprise as their favorite show , please provide feedback on why you like it better than all other Star Trek shows. (For myself , I'm a fan of Enterprise but it's not my favorite show)

I'm also curious to see who leads the poll between options 1 and 3

It's ok, particularly S3 and 4, and S4 may even be the best of all Trek seasons (of the old shows). But overall, TNG, DS9, VOY are better. I would put ENT above TAS though ;)

I like a lot of it and I like that it changes up a lot and it'll probably be the first Star Trek that I will have watched every episode of. I like elements of TNG and DS9 more but I don't like the entirety of those shows, and my favourite episode of Trek is in Voyager. I respect TOS but I prefer the TOS films to the show.

I like it as much as any of the other live action shows and quite a bit more than most of them. I actually really like the characters. I just prefer happy, funny episodes and live action Trek likes to get serious, sad and violent sometimes. (Prodigy does too but it’s kid-sized serious, sad and violent and I am not such a wuss that I can’t handle kid-sized. :))

Enterprise, like every other Trek show, had its highs and lows. Some episodes rank with the very best the franchise has ever produced. Its trash episodes are pretty fuckin' stinky.

For a long time it was number 3 after TOS and DS9. Now it's number 4 after TOS, SNW and DS9.

~ Ah, yes, this goes for me too - thank you, @Sumire :bolian: (although I've only seen a handful of Prodigy eps long enough ago that I don't really remember them very much).
I really like most of seasons 1, 2 & 4 (even the rather villified ones like "Dear Doctor", "A Night In Sickbay", and especially "Precious Cargo"

), but only a few of season 3. Enterprise is probably my fourth favourite now, behind LDS, DS9, and SNW.

It's probably top 3 for me, although I'm not sure I can really put my finger on why. I think it's mostly down to liking the vibe of the show. I think the era is really cool, I like the crew a lot, and I like a lot of its arcs. It definitely had a bumpy start, and some of their early decisions rightfully gave the show a bad reputation, but it's one of my favorites to rewatch.

I want to like ENT, but half the seasons (the first two) are by and large lackluster for me, with the occasional exception, while the other half are good but often not-great. I've had it on Blu-ray for years now but have never cracked it open, which is surely a sign of how compelled I feel to experience it again versus rewatching other shows or experiencing new things.

Enterprise is one of my least favorite Star Treks, it had a very good premise but most of the potential was wasted. The first two seasons too often felt like they used a rejected Voyager script, there was very little difference in how the stories played out.
The third season was pretty good but too long and by the fourth season the writers were dangling TOS and TNG as audience bait.

I do like T'Pol a lot, I think she's one of the best Vulcans the franchise ever had and her and Trip's relationship is one of the highlights of the show, those two and Phlox are great. The others? Archer is an unqualified ashole, Reed is just an asshole and Hoshi and Mayweather are just there, the writers gave them nothing, that might seem better than being an asshole but to be an asshole a character needs a personality and lines both of which Hoshi and Mayweather didn't get.

The show looks very good though, the sets, the props, the costumes etc. are awesome.

Isn't that the point? No human was qualified to do what they did.
There's a difference between not getting everything right and not being diplomatically minded at all even rejecting T'Pol's often sound advice because she was a Vulcan and Archer had beef with them.

It's been a long time since I've seen the show, but IIRC one of the things that bothered me about the first couple of seasons wasn't just Archer and Trip's disdain (sometimes approaching overt racism) for the Vulcans but the fact that the show seemed to suggest we should be siding with them. It reminded me of how during VOY the show frequently portrayed Janeway's decisions as having been the right ones even when objectively, at times, her actions seemed morally dubious.

It's as though TPTB on those two series felt an urge to defend the actions of their leads rather than being willing to write their leads in any way that might be less than entirely favorable.

By comparison, during TNG Picard just didn't typically tend to do things that were morally ambiguous (for better or worse), and when he did they made a point of showing him second-guessing himself, while on DS9 I think the show was willing to let the righteousness of Sisko's actions be open to debate.

A part of it is nostalgia, ENT was my first Trek and I absolutely loved the intro song. TOS was too old and TNG had a stuffy atmosphere to it. Never got into DS9 till the DW seasons, and VOY I never started.

But now? SNW and LD had taken the top spot for me. PROD I haven't seen yet and DISC, neigh.

I have a little soft spot for it because until SNW it's the only one that was able to capture the TOS feel a little bit. S3 is also one of my favorite ST seasons. But looking at the whole show objectively it isn't very good and probably the second worst live action Trek show just ahead of Voyager.

Although the sample size is limited, it seems my prediction is panning out. Most ENT fans are really fans of other Treks that happen to also like ENT to some degree. I was wondering if there was a small niche of fans that only liked ENT, ( a cult show that's splintered within the Star Trek franchise) simular to fans of more obscure shows like Lost in Space or Space 1999. So far there are actually more people that dislike the show than those who feel it's their favorite. Kinda revealing since this is a an ENT forum and you would think if there were hardcore fans out there , it would be here.

I wonder if Berman felt this was the case as they were making it and it was part of the reason the series finale catered to TNG or the modern Trek era in general instead of the ENT fan specifically. If so, that was flawed logic,. For better or for worse, you should stay true to the show you are making.

They exist but they may not represent themselves online or may not be on this site. Both a friend of mine and my dad love Voyager but don't really go online about it like I do. Like over on a reddit page someone thought Enterprise had the best start out of all the shows and numerous people thought it a great show.
As to the finale, from what Manny and Brannon and Rick have said (in Fifty Year Mission and Inglorious Treksperts interview with Manny Coto, check them out!) they felt were kind of doing a finale for the whole era of the franchise since 1987, and Manny looks at "Demons/Terra Prime" as the proper end to the series itself. "These Are The Voyages" was meant to be a "love letter to the fans." I think they failed miserably but I think the concept itself is solid and with some tweaks it legit could have been one of the best episodes of Trek and a great way to send off the show.

Man I remember way back in the 00's, I found ENT, loved it, went to the internet to the forums to talk about it, and got sad by the backlash by saying I liked ENT. How dare I enjoy a Trek series the fandom hated?

Its why I defend DISC fans so venomously. I was in their role. Even if I do not like DISC :p.
