It would be hilarious to bring Loki(Not Tom Hiddleston though)

I just finished watching The Giggle and I really enjoyed it.
NPH was fantastic as The Toymaker, very creepy, and just the right amount of over the top.
Of course the big thing with the episode is the bi-generation, which I thought was a fun twist, and a nice way to both tie up Fourteen's story arc here, and leave David Tennant open to pop back up in a recurring role, or to lead a new UNIT spin-off. This could easily work as a back-door pilot for a UNIT series with Fourteen, Donna, Kate, Mel, and Shirley as the leads.
Where does the idea of bigeneration bringing back old Doctors come from? I was under the impression from the episode that this was a one time thing because of the issues the Fourteen was dealing with.

RTD discusses it on his commentary track (only available in the UK), but it's described second-hand in the official after-show, which anyone can listen to around the world (without extraordinary measures).

OK.
While I think it could be fun to revist old Doctors, I can see where it can be a little annoying to undo their deaths.

Generally a good episode, though I'd say "Wild Blue Yonder" is still my favorite of this little trilogy. NPH was very good. Gatwa was fun. I hate the bi-generation though. An awful idea made even worse by the behind the scenes retcon, which hopefully will never actually be acknowledged on screen.

Thank goodness Fifteen seems like he'll be fun, because that bi-generation honestly killed a lot of my hype.

2 Doctors at the same time - Somebody checked on the Daleks to see if there ok?

I'm going to be Mr. Grumpy now...

1 Doctor
1 Tardis
A Galifreyan - Not some Timeless child

Can we just stop messing with the core foundation's of the character please.

It also makes our new Doctor seem like a knock off rather than him getting to be The Doctor, the true Doctor like all the actors before him got to be.

I did like the episode and I loved NPH in his role as the Toymaker. I loved it so much, it does annoy me he was in 1 episode out of the 3 specials because he so deserved more screen time. Ncuti seems really promising and it made me laugh no one mentioned his LACK OF TROUSERS

Grumpy I know :shifty:

I just loved 2005-2017 Doctor Who and I was hoping RTD would take us back.

Ever since the classic story, "The Two Doctors," in which we saw a more grey-haired Second Doctor, I always wondered if there were alternate versions of past Doctors that did not regenerate but continued onwards having adventures and grew older. I thought such a thing would be possible via alternate timelines in which the Doctor turned left instead of right, but bi-regeneration gives an excuse for past Doctors to exist in the here and now without the need of a timescoop or whatever plot device that can merge timelines.

So now not only are there different Doctors across time, but also different Doctors in the same time as well.

Old 2 was explained as part of 'season 6b' where the Celestial Intervention Agency had the Doctor do some errands for them prior to his forced regeneration and exile to Earth.

I just wish Davies would learn his own lesson from "The Star Beast" and... let it go. Tennant is wonderful, but there have been a lot of wonderful Doctors, and hopefully there will be many more.

Unfortunately, now, Ncuti Gatwa doesn't get to be the Doctor. He's just a Doctor.

So, I wonder how often Graham's former companion support group meets and I wonder if Mel will bring the Doctor to the next meeting? I'd like to imagine the Doctor reuniting with Ian one more time.

Its to Ncuti's testament that he's instantly likeable, butit does feel like he's just shared his limelight with another Doctor.

I doubt they"ll bring Tennant back for anything other than a special. He's not interested in returning to the character full time. I kinda imagine him as being more like the metacrisis doctor - he's not truly The Doctor anymore, so he can settle down with the Nobles and let the universe be taken care of by 15.

I loved it. I have waited for 57 years for the Toymaker to make another appearance.

The Celestial Toymaker was one of my favourite stories as a child. Because Dr Who was repeated during school holidays in Australia I believe that I saw The Celestial Toymaker three times. I remember it quite well.

I love the 15th Doctor.

I almost can't believe they didn't bother to work in another catchphrase.
When Fourteen settles in and lets go (for now) of his wanderlust, they could have recontextualized "I don't want to go." :)

On the video commentary for The Giggle, RTD confirmed the bi-regeneration kicked in retroactively for each classic Doctor

So that makes "Tales of the Tardis" true.

The Bi-Regeneration phenomenon not only affected this regeneration, but also affected all the Doctor's previous Regenerations at the same time. So , without the Doctor knowing up until this point, each of his/her Regenerations created a Copy of the Doctor's previous form which is independent of the Doctor (For example, when the Fifth Doctor regenerated, then a copy of the Fifth Doctor which would become independent was created while the main body became the 6th Doctor and so and so)
Which would mean that each "old" Doctor is left behind with no Tardis?

So regeneration is just a xerox copy now? Naaa.. there would be a shed load of timelords roaming around

And what do they mean never took time off?? He spent 900 hundreds of years on trenzelore and 70 years with river at that place. He's taken a shed load of time off. Even counted the number dead on galleyfrey spent time as a monk.

Literally over a thousand years just in 11 time!

I'll take as a reason that 14 was a doctor for what.. a week in real time? Not enough to cool down so the regeneration had enough energy to xerox them.. sure. I'll buy that.

Keept on waiting for Someone to say.. where's your trousers?.. guess that's a skit for Christmas..

Ncuti Gatwa Was quite fun right out the barn. Haven't failed a doctor choice yet. Whitaker was Great but saddled with a subpar show runner.

Looking forward to more.

...

Some of Harris' "Toymaker" vocalizations did remind me of Michael Gough (a favorite of mine from British horror films). A nice touch!

Another cracking episode, enjoyed the story, the guy playing the toy maker was very good, the visuals were top notch, and the new spin on regenerations very intetesting, and the new doctor seems to have taken to the roll very quickly.........10/10.

I enjoyed that a lot. 15 was great from the start. NPH was great. The Toymaker in UNIT HQ was pretty damn good. The dolls were really scary (hope little kids don't get nightmares).

Bi-generation? Not sure. Let's see how it plays out. As to why, I'll just point out the purported spinoff, 'The War Of The Land Against The Ocean'.

As for the Xmas trailer, I can't imagine Harrtnell grooving at a rave. :)
