The Book Of Boba Fett

I'm glad I'm not the only person who really liked Solo. And Lucasfilm has at least not totally disowned it, since for a while now the comics have been doing a big arc with the Qi'ra controlled Crimson Dawn, and there's also a new novel coming out that fills in what Qi'ra was doing between when Han left Corellia and when he found her working for Vos.

The only thing Lucasfilm ever disowned was the Holiday Special . . . at least until Lucas sold the company. Now we're getting semi-frequent references to it. Even the old 80's cartoons get a shout out here and there.

That said, the fact that they're telling a good chunk of Qi'ra's story in book and comic form is a good indicator that whatever else they might have in development; they have no plans to have Emily Clarke back anytime soon.

And the only path I see for her returning in live action is in the young Lando project as a follow-up to her killing Dryden Vos, taking his place in the hierarchy of Crimson Dawn and then being called back to Dathomir by Maul. Which I actually want to see explored, but I'm not putting all my eggs in that basket. The Lando project can still go in any direction and who even knows if Donald Glover and his brother will bring their project to fruition.

I hope she does return. Crimson Dawn and Vos were among the more interesting underworld factions, aside from the Pykes.

Much preferred over Black Sun or the Hutts again.

Yeah, the Hutt Twins in The Book of Boba Fett were cool but I'd much rather see other alien crime syndicates get some exposure in the franchise.

The upcoming 'Underworld' game is another possibility, since it's taking place smack in the middle of ESB & RotJ when Qi'ra and Crimson Dawn are causing utter chaos between the syndicates, as well as the Empire and Rebellion. They should at least get a mention.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see her back too. I just don't see it being on the cards given the amount of publishing material that's come out of late, but not tied to any other product release. That's typically a sign that a character is considered "safe" by dint of nobody else planning to use her in anything major.

This kind of thing is also why Phasma got so much attention on the publishing front in the lead up to TLJ; she was only going to have two scenes and then die, so the movie people didn't care. Aurra Sing also leaps to mind as there was (in hindsight) a surprising amount of promotional material based around her in the lead-up to TPM, leading some to assume she'd be a significant character . . . though she was very much the opposite. Again, it's down to the character 1) looking cool, and 2) being safe to use.

The inverse of this is of course the reason why we get so little tie-in media for Ahsoka from anyone except Filloni, and the likely reason why Barris has yet to show up in anything post-Clone Wars. They're sseemingly earmarked characters that are being saved for later.

As for the underworld; personally I'm more interesting in the Crymorah Syndicate and Droid Gotra since those are the other major ones we've heard of, but have seen the least of. Between Solo and all the Qi'ra stories of late, I think I have a good sense of what Crimson Dawn is about, before and after Qi'ra took power. Indeed the only real blank spot is exactly how that happened, how Maul ended up on Malachor, and why he didn't seem to bother taking back his former seat of power after escaping.

And yet I still really want to see Nar Shaddaa!

How about both. Both is good.

The upcoming game should give us a bunch of crime lords and such goings on. Nar Shaddas would be nice to see as more than just wall and neon lights.

That was the plan for George's cancelled Underworld TV series. They allegedly had over 50 scripts written with 100 episodes planned. I'd like to see them someday.

A bunch of concepts from it were used in Clone Wars and other projects.

Saw Guerra was created for that series, and put into Clone Wars as a lead up.

The design of the Coruscant undercity as seen in Clone Wars was created for Underworld.

The cancelled 1313 game was meant to tie into Underworld.

The Coruscant Police gunship seen in Clone Wars may have been created for Underworld. The episode guide says the design was borrowed from another project, but doesn't say what project it was from.

Palpatine's first name of Sheev in the new canon came from Underworld.

Personally, I picture it as a mix of the Walled City of Kowloon, and 1950's Vegas. A very stark contrast between the syndicate run fancy (but still kind of tacky) areas, and literally everywhere else is an overcrowded, incomprehensible rabbit warren built on top of ten other rabbit warrens, a third of which have long since collapsed into the ancient sewers below, all of which is being crushed beneath the smattering of semi-improvised "spaceports" that dot the surface level sprawl.
Wouldn't mind underworld of Coruscant.
There is a lot of old 1313 concept materials still knocking around, meaning a lot of the world building is already in place (some of which made it into Clone Wars, among other projects) so it's certainly doable.

I love Solo. Will rewatch it before a lot of other films.

Another big fan of Solo. I rank it in the top five films of the franchise.

Count me in as someone who enjoyed Solo a lot. It's a shame it will most likely never get a direct follow-up. Then again, it's probably for the best. There are plenty of interesting stories to tell in the Star Wars universe, and to keep revisiting previous characters and settings would become rather dull.
For example, I liked the character of Rey and I'm interested in the new film they are working on with her. But I also feel her story has been told and I'd rather see us moving on. Have a story set 60 years after TROS, for example.

That is why Tatooine was safe.

The Rey movie is I think set 15 years after the previous film and deals with the reformation of the Jedi Order and those that might resist the idea that the Galaxy even needs the Jedi
