I've never liked it anywhere near as much as the first movie but over the years my appreciation for it has gone up a lot.

Burt Young's best film is actually TWILIGHT'S LAST GLEAMING, though I won't claim it's his best performance.
But it's relatively obscure, so no pressure.(:
After last week, Cliff from CHEERS and Biggs from STAR WARS seem to be the last cast-men standing from that film.

It does. Various ST characters have made references to the soul in its spiritual, rather than loose, colloquial manner (or as a substitution for heart). Clearly, Vulcans have souls, and something tells me Spock would not have been able to transfer his to McCoy, if the latter were merely some organic vessel incompatible with something so integral to a life form of their general kind.

It’s way ahead of its time. Meta before going for the meta was really a thing, even down to it containing a negative review of the first film.
Gremlins is my favourite Christmas movie. Hands down.
Gremlins 2 not the kind of sequel you necessarily want in terms of what Gremlins was, but it’s a really adventurous, brave and special movie. It could certainly be argued it’s a bad movie too. I like it a lot though. Like Eddie said above, my appreciation of it has increased over the years.

Really? I thought they were very well done. My wife even calls them 'hideously cute'... at least, one of the terms she uses. She's not wrong.

Very disturbing and not engaging. It looks like something I would use a shotgun on. I have no desire to see a movie about it.
The character design in both movies is excellent, for both Mogwai and Gremlins. The fact it’s entirely achieved with puppets as well is remarkable.
They are something you would want to use a shotgun on. Isn’t that what a horror movie monster is supposed to be?
Gremlins is a horror/comedy.
But it's quirky, tongue-in-cheek, wink-to-the-audience comedy-horror. And it works brilliantly.
