You’re gonna LOVE Starfleet Academy, then. During “The Ready Room” Wil Wheaton mentioned and Tawny Newsome confirmed that Tawny has joined the writing staff of Starfleet Academy.

He's answering Beckett's original question, "How are you so excited for some random portal no one's ever heard of?" The statements between that and him answering are them arguing semantics.
True enough. Personally, I hope that it doesn’t… it sounds awful. But then again, I hated the idea of Star Trek: Prodigy, and it turned out to be pretty awesome.
I think it’s more that Mariner’s animated antics don’t really translate well when Newsome is actually playing the character in live-action. Boimler in live-action isn’t as noticeable of a change from the animated version.
TAS wasnt a futurama type show. LD is. Also they never had a crossover with another star trek show with a starfleet officer saying "oh yeah. Here is the period where we were two demensional." All i can figure is the lower decks crew are raging alcholics and those drinks boimer makes have them seeing delusions the whole series.
Looks like they're onboard Voyager. Or atleast another Intrepid class ship. Could also be the holodeck.
Because it has now never looked different.

There's this thing called suspension of disbelief. Some people can only suspend so far before it becomes uncomfortable. I remember watching Ghosts of Illyria and having this weird moment, thinking "Jesus, that's just two grown men rolling around on the floor pretending." And then I took a breath and let it go. Surrendering to the absurd is a choice.
It was a joke. Like Boimler's line about how "real" the SNW characters looked.
Also Mariner has mellowed since S1, there's an actual growth arc. But she'll never be totally profesh despite her claims otherwise.
Well to be fair except for one joke form Boimer about everything looking realistic. No one made comments about being from a universe that looked like a cartoon or vice versa. Because it was not presented as a cartoon universe. The Enterprise Crew did not get turned into cartoons it was the drink causing them to hallucinate that.
But yeah the tones of both shows are like oil and water. Didn't work for me. If others liked it fine....
