MLB 2023 Season: Rangers are going hunting for Snakes

Marcell Ozuna is batting . 085. Proof that you can just take up a major league roster spot for no fucking reason.

On a brighter note, I hope Drew Maggi can go sell insurance or something happily now.

Anyone here a fan of any of the teams Yan Gomes has been on? Dude drops more fucking balls than any catcher I've ever seen. One game a few weeks ago he had 3 PB's, plus one today. That's not mentioning all the balls he just drops right in front of himself.

IDK if the fact he has his glove on the ground when the pitch is coming factors in.

Why don't we talk about Bullet Rogan?

I'll give you one guess.

The Oakland A's set a record with 23 losses in April and none of their starting pitchers has picked up a win.

...and that's despite rookie Mason Miller pitching a no-hitter through seven innings last night. Thanks to the bullpen, that was quickly blown away.

A's closer just gave up the tying home run in the 9th inning. Regardless of outcome, that's one more game where the A's starter won't be getting a win.

Speaking of the A's, per Jeff Passan:

Only 34 days remain in the Nevada legislature's session. The Assembly speaker: "If something was going to happen, it really should have been in place last week." The A's deal to buy the land for a potential Las Vegas stadium is dependent upon the passage of the $500M tax package.

Nevada's Assembly speaker says the Oakland A's have not presented "concrete" language requesting $500 million in public money to help construct a stadium in Las Vegas, and if a proposed bill doesn't materialize soon the Legislature could "run out of time."

The Nevada legislature only meets bi-annually, so there's a real chance the move of the A's to Las Vegas blows up quickly.

Edit: Of course, Nevada shouldn't be in the business of paying for a mallpark for John Fisher. But, y'know, he's a conservative piece of shit who wants a free ballpark.

Really hoping Oakland sticks to kicking the A's out after 2024, no matter what happens with Vegas.

Hm...can a team become homeless?

(Mostly joking)

The Blue Jays had to play in Dunedin, Fla. and Buffalo because of COVID.

Way back when the Mariners played in the Kingdome, some ceiling tiles fell and they had to play 26 straight road games until the strike ended the 1994 season.

Yeah, I remember the Blue Jays situation but that was something very unique.

I had forgotten about the Kingdome situation.

There was also the time when the NPB team currently known as the Chiba Lotte Marines went through the so-called "Gypsy Lotte" era:
