Women aren't supposed to be strict or bossy or belligerent, that's men stuff. This is a derailing point, anyway. I just find it a needlessly sexist descriptor.

Her character I find unlikable, which is fine. It's more interesting.
That would be an appropriate subtitle for the Silmarillion.
She is excessively willful but that's her journey. Need some flaws to start with. They are believable ones for someone who left heaven to create their own realm in Middle earth to rule one day.
Did anyone else raise an eyebrow when Galadriel simply jumped overboard and started swimming the entire sea back towards M.E.?

In what way? She knew she could make the swim easily being an Elf. She felt the call of the evilness. There was no other choice.
And for those that say she wouldn't be able to, I remind you, a Man, Aragorn, a Dwarf, Gimli, and an Elf, Legolas ran for 3 days non-stop without eating.
This is Middle-Earth, not Earth.

I'm not 100% up on my Tolkien lore, but since Elves literally cannot die, was she in any real danger by doing this?

Exactly, she wasn't at all concerned of the swim. She could probably float and rest for a spell if she wanted. I mean Elves are like 90% marshmellows.
Elves can die. Whether they come back from the Halls of Mandos is another issue.
They are killed, I don't recall them befalling accidents, or drowning or things like that. Could be wrong mind you.

Having done that in my youth (driven by my own vision, not jumping overboard...never mind) I can relate.
I'm not sure there's a male equivalent for harridan, or shrewish. Women are bossy, men are just assertive after all. Galadriel is acting no different to plenty of revenge obsessed male fictional characters over the years, and lest we forget, she's clearly right.
Anyhoo I'm not the biggest LOTR fans in the world, never read the books (have read The Hobbit) and enjoyed the films though haven't re-watched any of them in a long time. For me I want to see more Galadriel (Clark is a fine actor) more Elrond, and definitely more dwarves. I could do with fewer Fairhaven hobbits however.

Galadriel is fine. Definitely more Elrond, and surprising myself, I want more Dwarves. I hated Gimli in the original films and did not care for the Dwarves in the books, but the Hobbit films warmed me up to the Dwarves as a whole. Elrond and Durin and family is more than justifying the price of admission for the series already.

I am hoping Nori is going to be a big part of the show. In my opinion, Markella Kavenagh and Morfydd Clark have done the best acting jobs so far. But seriously, everyone has been fine.

I will be seriously reserved on the Hobbits until Meteor Man is revealed. It could go either way but I am not personally taken by them. The acting is fine and works just fine in terms of characters. I just find the Hobbits less interesting right now. Could change.
