Your first Trek novel?

Like a few others on here, the first trek novel I read was PADs Vendetta. I can't exactly remember when I bought it (due to there not being many Trek books in the British Library system where I live I very rarely borrow them and just buy them out right) but it was the rather tiny sum of £4.99 and even though I had to ask my Dad what Vendetta meant I was inspired by the fact it had a Borg on the cover to pick it up.

PAD's 'The Rift' combined with 'Perchance to Dream' by Weinstein.

And to further what was said earlier about the more 'adult' situations in PAD's books, i too remember vividly the descriptions of the female from beyond the rift emerging from a pool of water and the water rivulets running off her body. I think star trek taught me about sex, as I was only 9 when I read this book, ha!

BTW, Perchance was just not good, not good indeed. But Rift got me into Pike and company, and really led me to the movies, as TNG was all i'd seen up to that point. The only reason I read Rift, was that it was the only Trek book at the local library at the time.

I may be showing my age, but there is a very similar scene in the '70's Ballantine novel Spock, Messiah that still hasn't been topped...

Oh-My. Oh-My.

My first book was Q-Squared by Peter David. I was so blown away by it that I asked my mom to get me another Peter David book for a trip I went on. She got me the New Frontier four-book omnibus. I was hooked at that point. :D

Oh-My. Oh-My.

I still vividly remember the phrase "Sara's arms unfurled to reveal jutting breasts..."

My first Trek novel was either Peter David's Vendetta or Diane Duane's Spock's World. I'm not sure which.

My first Trek novel was either House of Cards or the anthology book Enterprise Logs. Read them both the same year so I'm not sure exactly which came first.

Another lost phenomenon, along with the need for Fotonovels

One of my happiest fan moments was going into a used science fiction bookstore while visiting Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I were out taking a walk and saw it. Inside was the ENTIRE set of Trek photonovels for sale!

I still have those and every other Star Trek book I've ever bought, dating back to around 1971.

My first (and only) Trek NOVEL was TNG: Immortal Coil, which is frickin AWESOME! I did read some of Imzadi, too, but I skipped a good chunk of it and only focused on the parts that involved Future Riker and Future Data.

Afterwards, I decided to try out some Starfleet Academy books ("Mystery of the Missing Crew," "Secret of the Lizard People," and "Deceptions"), which, though well below my reading level, were VERY entertaining. Now, I'm looking forward to the continuation of IDW's TNG: Intelligence Gathering comic series. (I've got the first issue and I REALLY wanna see what happens next!)
