You and I remember Budapest very differently.
So she is banking on the possibility of future work? Ridiculous.
Well yes, it's just that based on her prior comments about roles she's rejected Irulan seems like one she WOULDN'T want. Unless she's hoping for the future Irulan stories.
Or maybe she's a big fan of the novel?

Like what? Like I only take specific projects?
She said that she tried auditioning for other Hollywood stuff earlier and most of them were just "One-Note Love Interest" or "Lose weight and you'll do better" which made her stick to British stuff more until better projects came along like Little Women and Midsommar and stuff.
So Dune could have been pitched differently.
Villeneuve doesn't strike me as the type who would reject an actress who doesn't have supermodel measurements. Pugh is a very good and young actress, i.e. she fits the role age wise and could be available for potential sequels where she gets more to do. I have no clue how she chooses roles but i know that other actors/actresses do tend to mix their roles to build a steady career, i.e. they do a high profile paycheck movie ( could be a bullshit Michael Bay production for all they care), then do a smaller movie with a better story which is more up their alley and so on - one part business and one part passion and it seems to have worked for many actors, especially in the super popular Marvel movies that attract A list level talent or help launch some into A list category that has so far worked perfectly well for Pugh.
That's pretty messed up when an actress of Pugh's athletic build is told to lose weight.
Maybe, either they increased her role like the 2000 Mini did or rewrote the role. Just have to wait and see.

Rewatching this, because I often notice little things.....
One thing that all filmed versions lack is a mention to Paul being trained as a Mentat. In this version, I notice a lot of moments of Paul being highly analytic of his surroundings, observing and calculating. HIs sparring session with Gurney at the beginning of the movie.... At some point Gurney gets emotional talking about the Harkonnens, quite angrely and gets very close and personal with Paul.
No emotion, no flinching. Everything is observed, measured and quantified.
Well done, if you ask me.
