You sound like a smart chap. You can probably figure it out.
My headcanon uses the round Arda idea (round from the beginning), because that's what Tolkien's definitive version was.He was more aware than anyone that the Silmarillion was never doing to be "definitive" as JRR's opinion about it (and everything.. he was rethinking the Blue Wizards again just before he died and had give up on the flat Arda idea)
I would so love to see a properly done take on Elric. As I was watching the trailer I was thinking this looks good but so familiar. There's been so many books, movies, games, etc that have their roots in Tolkien it'd be nice to see something with a different feel.Well, if we're talking about Tolkienian headcanons...
I go Middle-earth -> Conan and the Hyborean Age -> Excalibur (the Boorman film) -> recorded human history. I want to put Elric of Melnibone between the Fourth Age and the Hyborean Age, but Stormbringer makes that super-difficult.![]()
Sounded exactly like LOTR and the Hobbit films to me. That's an interesting take. But, when Galadriel started talking I was immediately taken to her opening monologue from Fellowship.Visually beautiful, and I am sure the story will be one worth seeing, but something about every single line delivery in the trailer worries me.
Soap-opera-ry?Something... Like everyone is channeling Rocky?
Hopefully it's just something about the way the trailer was cut, for dramatics.

Ah, well, my wife writes Hobbit fan fiction so her and I revisit the trilogies a lot, and specific scenes quite often, especially the Council of Elrond.Ah, must just be me then.
I haven't seen the original trilogy since the theatrical run. I watched The Hobbit trilogy once on streaming when new.
