What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

They can't afford Christopher Pine, period.

He's too expensive, so unless Christopher Pine is willing to take a serious pay cut, it ain't happening.

If they wanted to bring in Pine to play Kirk they probably could afford him, the budgets on the nu-Trek shows seems pretty big. It just might mean they have to do one or two eps that aren’t as VFX heavy with simple stories. Like every one of the “classic Trek” series had to do from time to time.

you just don’t know what his asking price would be.

Although a first-rate series, I believe "Deep Space Nine" is overrated and had failed to reach its potential of being the best Trek show. I barely like Season Six and disliked most of Season Seven.

I am a huge Deep Space 9 fan, but I don't like season seven at all. The Dominion War for the most part was brilliantly written, but its ending was a mess of convenient coincidences because The Good Guys Had To Win™. Also – I cannot stand Ezri Dax.

I like Ezri (but am firmly in Team Jadzia) but I think she is one of the reasons S7 sputters a bit. They spent too much time and effort into “getting to know” her.

They should have worked out a deal to keep Jadzia alive. Or still kill her off but promote Nog or Kassidy to series regular. Introducing a new character that was supposed to be a series regular that close to the finish line was a mistake.

1. The Cardassians took DS9 for months, and Sisko is bleeding out in an alley behind his dads restaurant. That's what life is, a series of down endings.

2. Dax makes me feel funny, like when I used to climb the rope in gym class.

I would trade all of TNG for a post Voyage Home version of Phase II on the "A", and Pulaski should absolutely be a relative of McCoy's. I would keep Riker, Troi, Pulaski, Data, Geordi, and Worf. Shatner in command. Uhura and Chekov made starring characters. McCoy and Spock making guest appearances (questionable on if Doohan could have done a couple years before Geordi takes over). Sulu written out as getting his own ship, because, well, screw Takei

Worf and Data would be interesting. Worf because of being a KIingon in Starfleet in the 23rd Century (there's a story!), and Data because Kirk spent a lot of episodes in TOS outsmarting computers and androids.

Seems a little problematic, though....wasn't Riker, Troi, etc. born well after the point this would be set in (late 23rd century)?

Not if they were literally part of the next generation following TOS.
(this is basically a total reimagining of TNG)

Exactly. The "A" could end up with a Holodeck, and Worf could still deal with his Klingon heritage, etc, but the aesthetics would be a bit different. Watching Kirk and Riker butt heads could have been some phenomenal stuff. Pulaski as a relative of McCoy's would give reason for his guest appearances, and keep a bit of the dynamic consistent. Chekov as head of security with Worf as weapons officer, or something like that, could also lead to some golden exchanges. The merits of Mother Russia, vs the glory of the Empire? Hah. Kirk teasing Data, maybe throwing him a random Kirk brain twister here and there, as a running joke / nod to TOS? And it would totally fix my issues with Relics, Geordi as the rising protege, as it should be. They already used Decker/Ilia, so Riker/Troi it is. Unsure on if Data should revert to his "alien built" origin for this what-if storyline. Are there any reasonable ways to go from the Monster Maroons to some type of colored variants without jumping right to TNG colors? What should the uniforms have looked like for this hypothetical show? I'm thinking Uhura as second officer and getting a lot of Command scenes when Kirk and Riker are both gone, or accompanying Riker on some landing parties, perhaps?

I've heard about the three Canadian cell and Internet networks. What a mess right now. For all the problems with American cell and Internet providers at least they're not in the middle of this.
