Spoilers Season 1 episode previews, trailers, and images

Spotted what might be a new Romulan design on the far right. Also the Romulans are using beams, not pulses. Though they seem to be firing them in short bursts.

The BoPs also seem to be based off the Picard redesign. At the very least the Bussards are the same, a ring of green lights with a big light in the middle

Ortegas, Spock and Uhura have all been promoted.

So has Mitchell. (Jenna Mitchell not Gary)

I don’t think that the Romulan ship Captain is Sarek’s twin this time. So it could be this un named female Romulan:

Or T’Bonz
:D

Another hint of what we’re seeing might not be real
The shots of La’an and Kirk filming on the streets of Toronto for season 2, La’an doesn’t have gold rank stripes. At the very least implies this time skip isn’t permanent

So, I guess the question is, what does Pike do differently than Kirk that causes events to go wrong if he's in command of Enterprise? Because this is looking a lot like another riff on the "path not taken" trope where someone gets their wish for a different life and it all goes to shit.

Alternatively, what does Pike do as fleet commander that prevents everything from going to shit on the border if he does accept his fate and take the promotion?

Ah so we're thinking this sudden uniform change (especially to Uhura and Chapel) is a subtle visual indicator of something going awry with the timeline.

All Pike have to do is tell Star Fleet the type ships that has a problem, they will be removed from the fleet saving everyone lives and keeping Pike out of the wheel chair.
That's what I think happen. Pike told Una and she told Star Fleet and they decommission those ships.

In the season one finale, just as Captain Pike thinks he’s figured out how to escape his fate, he’s visited by his future self, who shows him the consequences of his actions.

YEP

Honestly don't like that. I want his integrity as a starfleet officer to be the reason why he chooses to keep his fate, not some vision of a bad future. But whatever, the episode sounds and looks cool.

They haven’t had very many stumbles in S1 so I trust them for the finale. But I’m not sure about the idea of Pike essentially being guilted into accepting his fate.

Based on the preview clip, it seems Pike's desire to change the future has less with averting his own fate and more with attempting to save the life of someone he knows dies in the accident. So, I can see this scenario working while still maintaining Pike's integrity. That is, seeing how much worse the future will get, Pike learns he has to embrace the full version of his fate, and that includes letting those who die die.

That is the lovely thing about the way Pike's been written. That he's so other-centered regarding the eventual accident has turned what seem to have been some dire expectations about his arc becoming a dirge for (yet another) inward-looking character on their heads.
