Spoilers Willow sequel series on Disney+

I don't have the nostalgic connection for this as others do. I can't remember if I ever seen Willow, maybe once when I was a kid. Definitely need to (re)watch it now because this trailer was really good.

I don't think I knew Kellyman was going to be in this so the moment I saw her pop up in this trailer, I broke out into a big grin. :D
She had the best part in the announcement trailer. Saying that she was in Star Wars with him and him pretending he had no idea who she was.

:guffaw:

Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

The baby was Elora Danan but there's been no mention of that character being in the series.

Plot twist: Elora is the villain and Willow will have to kill her!

Yeah, they're clearly being a little coy about Elora's fate. One assumes they're going somewhere with it.

That is basically how the (admittedly rather terrible) sequel novels went, in a roundabout, alternate future, dark phoenix meets the Valeyard kind of way. If so then not THAT much of a twist. ;)

That definitely sounds like a Chris Claremont story to me.

Well if they keep to actual time passed.. 34 years, Elora would be 34-35 at this time.. Hope they don't make Erin Elora... Well she does have red hair.. :p

Really like the trailer. I hope the show maintains the same tone of comedy that the film had.

Ruby Cruz plays Kit Sorsha, Erin Kellyman is Jade, "Kit's best friend who grew up an orphan in the castle and is trying to become a knight".
He hasn't been mentioned anywhere as far as I know, but I'm still holding out hope for a surprise appearance by Val Kilmer, back as Madmartigan.
Oh, and the show is set 20 years after the movie, not 34.

According to EW.com that reports he will appear were apparently a misunderstanding of what was said at Celebration. He will not be in the show, it says he couldn't travel to Wales due to Covid restrictions, but he's still "in the show in a big way", and that "Val's spirit is very much with the series".
Hopefully they didn't kill him off, so we could still see him in a potential second season. I had forgotten about Kilmer's throat cancer, anybody know how he's doing health wise? Would he still be in a condition where he could appear? If he's unable to talk, there're ways to work that into the show.
The article also says Kit is the daughter of Madmartigan and Sorsha, so apparently she is not Elora.

I hope with this we get a "proper" made Fantasy show - i was really disappointed with the Wheel Of Time show ( so much bad acting) that i set my hopes in this one.

I am a big fan of the movie so seeing Willow again is just such a treat.

Actually if you read that article.

Kasdan added, however, that due to COVID-19 restrictions, Kilmer was unable to shoot in Wales with the main unit. “But he is in the show in a big way. And we’re pretty excited about it.” He concluded that “Madmartigan lives on.”

It makes it sound just that he wasn't able to travel to Wales and film scenes there, but that he may have filmed scenes in another location. Whether that means green screened in to have interactions with other cast or something just with him by himself I don't know.

As to Kilmer's condition... In the documentary Val on Amazon you can see how he is at the end and he has to use a voice box to talk. In Top Gun: Maverick
I think they used AI technology and archival voice to recreate his actual voice and while he typed out text on a computer he then talked a little bit in a voice raspy low voice. I don't believe that was his 'actual' current voice, but the AI technology recreating it.

I'm pretty sure the reference to "him" was a reference to the character Madmartigan, not necessarily Val Kilmer. The next quote refers to Kilmer's spirit being with the series, which to me seems to imply that he isn't in the show. Not to mention the article itself specifically says that they have gotten official confirmation that he is not in the series.

If Kellyman wasn't a decade too young, I'd have guessed that she was Elora and they're going full on Wart from 'The Once and Future King' with it all. Mostly because: ginger! But also because it seems odd given most of the other main players are back, so Elora's absence seems very odd.

I guess Jade *could* be Elora and there's a reason why she's so young. I mean we never found out exactly WHY Elora was special, so maybe slow aging/immortality is part of that? Bavmorda didn't try to kill her after all, but banish her from the world, as if she either can't be killed, or she'll just reincarnate. Maybe Jade was raised as she was because Sorsha, Madmardigan and Razzle didn't want her to grow up in the limelight; safety in anonymity, and less of a chance she'll wind up spoiled? Hmm, I don't know.
