Oh, and the other day I came up with a name for the Palomino gelding at the stables I go past on my bike rides. Hemmy, after Chris Hemsworth, because he's a big blond guy.

The adopted orphan Rising Star is now 1 year old. He's come a long way from that scrawny little newborn. He's a stallion in training.

Had a funny visit with the horses, Carla and Mary, during my bike ride this morning. I was petting Carl and she turned her head, so I started scratching the side of her neck, and she apparently liked it, because she started leaning into my hand. Then a few in minutes later, I found something she likes even more. She was walking along the fence, and I was petting her back and side, when she turned her butt towards me. I know the back end is dangerous, so I carefully just pet her a little at first, and then gave it a couple pats and she didn't seem to mind. Since she didn't mind that, I started scratching it, and that she really liked, she froze and just stood there while I scratched her, and then she even took a step back closer so I could get her better.
And the other horse Mary, who usually never lets me pet her, actually let me a little today. After I went back to Carla, she snorted right next to me and completely soaked my arm, and when I left a little while later, I saw that she had also shot muddy horse snot onto my fluorescent yellow shirt that wear while I'm out on my bike. So between the snot she snorted on me, and what I wiped off my arm, there was muddy horse snot all over my shirt. I'm kicking myself, because I didn't think to take a picture to post until after I'd already changed shirts and tossed it in the laundry.
