It's more likely named after the Discovery character. Who was a decorated Klingon War hero (remember they got Medals) and was MIA/Killed (according to the official record) a year earlier.

That was a great feature with some new clips and some details about the pilot episode thanks for posting! I saw the ready room clip earlier but just skipped to the end. Really pumped for this. I don't even mind that it's not in the 24th/25th century.

BUT ANYWAY.

Between this and the featurette seen on The Ready Room, I think this truly has potential to be one of the best Star Trek series out there. I've said it a million times here on the board, but, I've never been more excited for a Star Trek series than I have this one. The scenes just have the positive vibe and familiarity of past shows. I truly truly cannot wait for next week.

That style shuttle doesn't connect to the round docking hatches.

He probably didn't feel like walking all the way to the bridge from the shuttlebay.

I'm thinking of Pike stepping off the transporter, saying, "Why isn't the Enterprise shuttlebay not operating, Mr. Hemmer?"

Hemmer: "Oh, a wee problem sir, just temporary."

I'm thinking that the shuttle pilot probably offered to take him up to the ship (a thrill for her) and he's to kind to say no even though he just wanted to get it done.

Personally, docking a shuttle is a process. Pike probably was wanting to just go to work.
