The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Starting Lineup is coming back after 21 years.
Sweet. That's some nostalgia right there. I hope the scale is the same. I always liked the helmets.
I do love how the cloth capes were able to drape over the shoulders:
That's a nice Batman. Really nice find.
Unfortunately, the only local shop that sells vintage toys and memorabilia is a mess. The owner puts no effort into tidying up, so much so that you can only walk along a line of six feet, every other space is taken up by old books, magazines, and such. When I was last there about two months ago, he only had a couple of figures, not even good ones, and it was pretty clear he wasn't really interested. Although, I'm pretty sure there were more figures, but you simply couldn't find them. You couldn't even really look for them, because everything was stacked rather unsteady, and any attempt to move things could have caused an avalanche. Apparently, the owner makes his money almost exclusively on vintage video games.

I'd really love a proper vintage toy shop in my area, especially since YT videos like these show me what's possible:

We have several malls like that around here, with individual vendors so the variation of care is interesting. One has GI JOE for days, in cases, in boxes and it is exciting to see. Others are less organized. It takes some work and care but I would absolutely merchandise it for free if they would let me.

The Marvel Legends fan community is miffed that prices are going up again, without any corresponding improvement in the quality of the figures. I can definitely feel that, since I just started becoming interested in them recently, and I thought they were already kind of high-priced (when new in package) for what you get. They don't even have rotating wrists and ankles!

This isn't all of them, but here's a selection of our action figures:

Our B5 figures - the yellowing is from when we originally had them where sunlight got to them.

My husband LOVES Darkwing Duck!

I got his these 3 figures for his birthday. He also loves the Martian Manhunter.

Darkwing Duck and the Martian Manhunter? Your husband's got good taste.

Your post reminded me, also still have a couple B5 figures (lose, though) which I bought about fifteen years ago. I'll have to dig them up and maybe get pictures of them, as well.

Was that a pregnant Lisa Hayes? Isn't she pompous? Didn't Rick call her pompous?

I am pretty sure I posted this in this thread a while back but now they have a matching trailer for Optimus ....... This is all legit not fake.

Alright, I promised pictures of my latest hauls, and here they are.

This first batch was a package I ordered from an online retro toy shop in the Netherlands:

xvhBcEx.jpg

Sam & Twitch from McFarlane's 1990s Spawn line. I think there are two pieces missing, another headset and a handgun for Sam, but at the price I got two awesome figures for (7.99 Euros), I'm quite happy. And those two have always been my favorite characters from the Spawn comics.

Now, this is a bit of a cheat, the Flash figure I got at the last ComicCon in Stuttgart, but I never posted a picture. And it's from the same line as the Aquaman, the Total Justice/JLA series from Kenner. Though I'm at a bit of a loss regarding the very different coloring of the skin parts. The Flash I got with no accessories (which was typical for the JLA variation), the Aquaman might be incomplete, but I'm not bothering with his accessories anyway. He's a pain in the ass to get to stand, though.

5LRn9XQ.jpg

The Joker and Catwoman from Kenner's Legends of Batman line. No accessories on the Joker, and Catwoman is missing her whip, but again, they were cheap. It kinda hit me that this Joker's facial expression remind me of Gilbert Gottfried (RIP).

KkpD4oC.jpg

Stone Armor Goliath from Kenner, missing his stone armor, as well as his tail, but having looked through Ebay, it's hard enough to find one with the wings. Also a pain in the ass to get to stand, the tail really would have helped there.

k3bxNHf.jpg

Ultraman Mebius (Burning Brave variant) and Leilons from Bandai's Ultraman line. Really happy to get a Mebius figure (even if it's not the main version), as he's my favorite, and I always loved Leilons' look, so it's fitting he's my second Ultra-Kaiju figure.

Alright, onto my fleamarket haul, which I will mostly resell to fund future toy hunts:

B8p2LrT.jpg

All from Kenner's Batman TAS line, Bat Signal Jet, the back-pack of Power Vision Batman, and the B.A.T.V., all missing pieces, but got them for a good deal, and I should be able to make a bit of a profit on them.

NKZComh.jpg

Now, this I got no idea what it is. But, the copyright mark said it's Marvel Entertainment from Toy Biz, 1994. Probably also missing pieces. This I got, together with the Batman items above, and another figure coming up, for ten Euros. Anybody got an idea what this is? I already looked through Figure Realm, but I just can't find any Marvel Toy Biz vehicle that looked like this.

This is the great MotU haul that I'm very happy with. All figures and the VHS cost me only 17 Euros. Vintage MotU VHS sells on German Ebay for upwards of 20 Euros, the figures should be no less than 5 Euros each. Except for the He-Man, Skeletor and Jitsu, the ones most battered. Skeletor and Jitsu are both missing an arm each (yeah, the photo hides that well), you can see the color flaking off Skeletor's face, and He-Man's nose is quite damaged. I also have no idea what his armor is from. The figure itself is from 1981, but the armor is from 1985. Those three figures I might offer as a bundle for somewhere between 5 and 10 Euros.

And finally:

Snake from Space Precinct was part of the 10 Euros deal with the vehicles. James Bond Jr. actually was a lucky Ebay auction, I paid for both the figure and shipping less than 3 Euros. It sells on Ebay usually for 8 Euros, without shipping. Valuable lesson for reselling on Ebay: Auctions not starting at 1 Euro, best go for fixed "Buy Now" prices.

I can see that. But to be fair, Space Precinct had way better alien make-up effects than TNG, especially early TNG. It was one the show's biggest draws, next to the miniature effects (Gerry Anderson drawing on decades of experience), and one of the reasons the show only got one season, as it was way too expensive for the moderate ratings it got.

You might try going to google images and uploading this to do an image search it's not too bad with results.

@IMC Headquarters does your batmobile have anything else like opening doors and gadgets? I have a battered one from many years ago that had opening hood and boot and doors.

The doors, hood, and boot open. The crime computer is mounted under the boot. The interior detail is lovely. It's the Jada 1:18 scale version, with several reviews on the Tube available. Long ago I had an all plastic one which all my classmates also kept garaged in their toychests. I never thought I'd own one as detailed and Hefti as this one!

Oh cool Jada make some neat Fast and Furious cars so they are good. You should post more pics of some of the details. I think your mystery toy is from He Man

Unfortunately, that appears to only translate into a search for "toy spaceship", so not really helpful. Worth a try, though, so thanks for the tip.

No, the copyright mark says "Marvel Entertainment, 1994", and it's from Toy Biz. It does look Kirby-esque, and since the MotU line was heavily influenced by Kirby's Fourth World, it's an easy association, I agree.

Thanks, that's it. Wouldn't have guessed the Spider-Man line, honestly, as it looked more like something out of Fantastic Four, or from one of the cosmic characters. Had I known that among the missing pieces were all the robotic spider legs ...

Edit: Wow, just looked it up on Ebay, and even in this incomplete state, it appears to go for good prices. Considering what I paid for it, gonna be very good for my future toy budget.
