Spoilers Season 2 Trailers, Previews, and Promos

I hope not. Just seems like a retcon of the character from season 1 with her Tal Shiar background and marriage to Chabon - she was really just a Watcher looking over Picard the whole time.

‪‪I tend to agree. And with Laris mentioning being betrothed to Zhaban in the season premiere The Star Gazer, it doesn’t feel like it makes sense as a narrative choice to me.

When asked about Jean-Luc’s and Laris’ future, Orla Brady said in an interview that Laris has “her own adventures” ahead of her. The Laris/Tallinn connection (which I agree exists because it makes sense for the kind of story they’re telling this season) kinda might have been what she meant.

Tallinn having a Romulan tablet with Romulan script isn't a prop mistake.

Picard surely would have recognized the pad and display format as Romulan. Why didn't he? This one seems odd.

I'm glad they probbly won't go forward with the Picard/ Laris romance. Sadly, that almost sounds like she won't be in season 3.

Certainly not, but it also isn’t a forgone conclusion that Laris and Tallinn are for sure meant to the same individual.

Given Trek’s history of actors playing their own relatives, from Shatner playing Sam Kirk’s lifeless body, to Denise Crosby playing Sela, to this episode both Adam and Kore Soong being played by Brent Spiner and Isa Briones. It doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility that Tallinn is meant to be an ancestor or relative of Laris’s.

Of course, she might be Laris, but I’m not convinced just yet.

It's possible that she isn't. When Orla Brady wrapped season 2 she made an Instagram post about it in which she said she was ditching her Romulan ears. It sounded pretty final. And since they started season 3 literally the day after they wrapped season 2 (according to Sir Patrick)... it could be concluded that she isn't in season 3. Or at least not right from the start. Or just not as Laris. Who knows.

Some people hold that a story only has validity if it all works out in the end.

They must have a hard time watching dramas that take place in ancient Rome.
Some people like to speak for other people.
How is it a waste?
What I meant was that it's a waste of a great actress and a good character not to continue to use her. Of course it's entirely possible the story of her exit is as riveting as the demise of Pompej, so maybe it's worth it.

And the biggest waste, for me, was this ill-prepared Laris-likes-JL plot.

A few more thoughts, watching some of the trailers.

Also re-watched the "social media" teaser that was abruptly pulled a few weeks ago which contains a lot of spoilers I think:

Lots of interesting things we see, which I've tried to put into some kind of chronological order:

- Vial of genetic stabilizer, but now with a brown tag labelled "Freedom". She likely receives this in the gift box seen in another preview, since she's wearing the same outfit, and we then see her go outside in another preview in this same outfit, confirming Soong successfully gets the full cure from Q
- At the gala, Picard (in tux) says to Soong, "You don't know who you're dealing with" (presumably about Q)
- Picard is seen unconscious on the ground in his tux, wearing covert earpiece, being tended to by Tallinn and Rios. Maybe Soong injures him? Maybe Rios and Tallinn take Picard to the mariposa clinic, where:
- Dr Teresa asks "Who are you?" to Rios (who is wearing a tux), and he responds "We're the good guys"
- Tallinn turns white-eyed at the mariposa clinic and hooked up to headgear (different preview)
- Picard says "The future has been altered, and I'm here to save the entire galaxy" -- he tells a (skeptical?) Jay Karnes (Ducane), who is playing a police detective, who seems to want to know what the deal is with Picard's communicator he's holding, as well as handcuffs on the table
- at least 2 police officers assimilated, patrolling La Sirena / Chateau Picard, with green borg laser lights
- fight scene at Chateau Picard, Rios punches one of the assimilated officers while Picard watches in the background
- someone in the background says, "we are at a fork in the road, two futures" (sounds like seven or jurati?)
- Agnes walking the streets of LA in red dress- first at nighttime where she takes off her heels. We then see her in the same dress during the day, wearing borg boots, the left side of her face looks asymmetrical (assimilated?) and Seven is down on the ground by a dumpster; Agnes then starts running on top of the cars in broad daylight

We still haven't seen the Vulcan first contact scene in the forest with the kid, not sure how that fits in. There's also a scene with an older woman and younger woman, entering old wooden doors to reveal a flash of light. Maybe a Tallinn flashback?

Maybe how Seven becomes part Borg again? I could see Q visiting her during unconsciousness and tempting her that he'll reverse the damage Agnes does if Seven will help him.
[/FANFICTION]
