Spoilers Season 2 Trailers, Previews, and Promos

Picard could just be a civilian consultant in Season 3. Though him being in uniform at the start of this season probably means that's not happening.

In the end, it IS in-character for Jean-Luc to be unable to escape the Starfleet part of his life. Starfleet WAS his life, ever since he was young, what with him stating that nothing else mattered to him. And he never wanted for that Starfleet life to end the way it did. It therefore does make sense for him to still be drawn to and hang around Starfleet in some capacity (but still, I doubt they’ll be handing him another Enterprise).

In short: You can take the man away from Starfleet but you can’t take Starfleet away from the man.

This uniform is so wild to me ... looks so similar to the USS Dauntless uniforms from Prodigy, which look very similar to the early 2380s Lower Decks uniform ... but isn't either of them? I think?

Uniforms going crazy these days. I say let's relaunch the Monster Maroons. Those lasted for, like, a hundred years.

The show is premiering in 2 weeks. How are they not showing Picard trailers before Discovery?
They want more draw in from outside audiences, not just current subscribers.

Probably one of the best looking uniforms of the more recent Treks, aside from Lower Decks and maybe SNW.

There's no need for that.

It'll all depend on how they're selling it. I personally can't wait! Us Picard folk had to wait the longest, didn't we? Feels like ages.

I think people think in too drastic terms when it comes to this. Sir Patrick simply said he didn’t want to do TNG 2.0. This, however, does not rule out that Jean-Luc still hangs around Starfleet and walks around on Starfleet ships and even hangs out on Starfleet bridges. “Not TNG 2.0” and “deep down inside Jean-Luc is still a Starfleet man” are two things that are not mutually exclusive - if you want to be REALLY nitpick-y even Jean-Luc being an admiral is something he hasn’t done before on TNG (aside from Barash’s little “Admiral Picard on board a Romulan warbird” fantasy). Sir Patrick did say that one of his conditions was for Jean-Luc to not be in uniform again but even he had to admit that this was thrown right out of the window in season one already, so there’s that. Sometimes one has to make compromises. ;)

PIC’s season one was all about getting him out of the deep depression and bitterness he found himself in. He got out, and now he’s all about time travel shenanigans that will no doubt also make him realize what is important to him in life. And if his conclusion should be “Starfleet”, it makes sense to me that season 3 would go into that. The show is supposed to explore Jean-Luc’s character in more depth than TNG ever did, and if you want to do that you HAVE to have Starfleet SOMEWHERE. It doesn’t automatically mean he’ll be permanently sitting in the captain’s chair again.

..., but what they really wanted to explore is new uniform designs.

After the incident with Riker's shrunken uniform in Generations, Starfleet had to do some fast work to atone.

Maybe season 3 will be some rogue mission that Starfleet doesn't want them to do, that way he's not technically working for starfleet
Picard: Insurrection

I'm really glad that Picard, Raffi and Rios are back in Starfleet's active service (let's don't remember that they never stopped to have Starfleet ranks and Picard never stopped to be an admiral of Starfleet - just he wasn't in active service, he was retired).

Picard without Starfleet - Starfleet without Picard. It doesn't sound good. Picard is a moral guide of Starfleet and Starfleet gives him a meaning. The whole idea of Picard as a civilian and some motley crew was more like:

It could only work for 2-episodes story, but not as whole series. Star Trek is Starfleet.

I hope third season is all about Starfleet. I really would like to see how Starfleet, Federation instalations and Starfleet ships look like in 2399-2400. I am not interested in far future like in Discovery (it is sooooo far away that is so abstractive) nor TOS era like in Strange New Worlds (we allready been there with Kirk). I am only interested in present day (2399-2400). I want to see what happened after Nemesis in Starfleet world.

LDS and PRO show things after Nemesis

They do. But it is some kind of compromise for the fans legacy. I don't want to underestimate animated shows. But Nick's Star Trek Prodigy is intended for younger audience. They crashed millions for Star Trek Discovery.

I want some realy legacy show for other fans. Something real. Maybe DS9 sequel.
