Post a Random Fact About Yourself

i looked it up but quite frankly i think i don't need them

Does anyone ever really need a Twinkie?

This was... um, interesting:

Wikipedia said:
Shelf life

A common urban legend claims that Twinkies have an infinite shelf life, and can last unspoiled for a relatively long time of ten, fifty, or one hundred years due to the chemicals used in their production.[32]

The 2012 Super Bowl Chevy Silverado Apocalypse commercial also gives a nod to the Twinkie's reputed durability.[33]

In reality, Twinkies are on the shelf for a short time; a company executive told The New York Times in 2000 that the "Twinkie is on the shelf no more than 7 to 10 days."[34] The maximum shelf life was reported to have been 26 days, until the addition of stronger preservatives made beginning in 2012 increased it to 45 days.[35] A box of Twinkies from shortly before Hostess's bankruptcy in 2012 was opened eight years later; one had completely molded over with cladosporium, another had a small amount of mold, and the creme filling in a third Twinkie had turned brown with the taste of "old sock".[36]

If you saw the cream had turned brown, why on earth would you put it in your mouth to see what it tasted like?! :wtf:

I mean yeah, I'll eat a Twinkie. I don't go out of my way for them and can't remember the last one I had, but I like them. I'm more of a Little Debbie person. Little Debbie is known in my gaming group as Debra, The Patron Saint of Nerd Nite.

My random fact is that today I got to see a live bat up close because one of my colleagues had to go rescue one from a school. He said the kids all applauded when he came to get it. They put apple slices in the box for it (it eats insects, but whatever).

has anybody ever tried to feed them twinkies?

There’s no more room in my stupid head! That’s why man!

In reality I’m learning, but I have to say it’s easier to nail a language in your early twenties than in your mid-forties.
it surely is - which language are we talking?

Vietnamese.

I speak Chinese already, so there are points of similarity, but then there’s the French colonial additions to the language which complicates things.

Also, I was naive to think it’d be easier than Chinese because I wouldn’t have to learn a new alphabet again. Vietnamese uses the western alphabet (with some additional stuff) but they pronounce a lot of it in a different way.

So learning it is a process of undoing the western ABC programming that’s been stamped into me from childhood.

She’s a wonderful lady though, so this will be done and in the meantime I’m fortunate that she’s an English language professor.
