MLB 2021 season: Corn-Driven Humidity

After a lackluster season, the Pirates have released Gregory Polanco. Hilariously, the ESPN article referred to the Pirates as "rebuilding." Quite bold of them to assume that Nutting has ambitions for the Bucs beyond being everyone else's major league farm team.

I'm watching the Mets/Nationals game right now and Gary Cohen mentioned that he wanted to hear Gerardo Parra's walk-up music (the Baby Shark theme) played when the Nats are on the road.

Has this ever actually happened? Has ANY player's walkup song ever been played when they're on the road? I mean, I wouldn't actually expect that to ever occur...just curious.

Pretty sure at least one team played Careless Whisper for Josh Reddick.

I think that was when he played his first game (as an Astro) in Oakland.

You're probably right. I know it's happened for someone else, though. Might have been when Trevor Hoffman was in his final year and some team played Hells Bells for him.

Rebuilding is SOP for the Pierats.
Rebuilding implies that they had a great team and hope to have one again. Except for those three years (2013-15) where they managed to make it to the playoffs, the Pirates have sucked out loud for three solid decades; the last time they finished above .500, they were still 4th in their division and 12½ games back.

What is the big fucking deal about Baez doing the thumbs down thing with the Mets?

I mean, just a few years ago, the Yankees were doing it with Todd Frazier and no one could have given a damn about it. So why is it such a big deal now?

a) I didn't know Javy was such an asshole. b) anybody that swings and misses at shit 2 feet over his head or 3 feet outside deserves to get booed (he had it easy in Chicago) c) the Mets suck so much they all deserve to get booed
