I caught one phrase ("Izee bigger freeups to be getting" - meaning, "there are greater spoils to be had") but I'm curious as to the other things he said as well.

^I am surprised the writers acknowledged that 900 years from the 24th century, the common language would change. I am surprised Star Trek people speak our kind of English lol
Why would they speak any kind of English? They are just as likely if not more to speak a kind of Spanish for example.
The English language - or, as Saru called it, the "common tongue" - hasn't changed, it was just the Pidgin dialect that Zareh and his lieutenants (and Craft from "Calypso") spoke.
Pidgin is like Creole talk IRL, or Cityspeak from Blade Runner. A polyglot language - a mishmash of lots of different tongues.

Because that is the presumed language spoken or heard via the UT, it is assumed English is the language known as Standard. My point is the show recognises that 900 years from the 23rd century, English is no longer the common tongue, which is why I stated I am surprised Trek people (from Earth) prior to jumping to 3188 spoke our kind of English.

Khan clearly recognizes “English” upon waking up in space seed, so that’s definitely what they normally speak in the 23rd century federation.
Neat episode, I especially like how Saru picks Tilly for the mission because he knows she can probably calm a bad situation down. It utilizes past characterization, and shows Saru knows his crew. It's too bad that bit of brilliance is marred by having him not anticipate some sort of trap, instead having to rely on space Hitler to save the day.
Unfortunately the deus ex machina ending invalidates the whole episode, turning all of the events pointless except as a character building exercise.

That's usually why I watch stories.
Won't back down from my 7, but a strong 7 on second viewing, based on Tilly's "WTF" and "What" lines and Georgiou's "Foreplay" quip... and maybe Culber's "I'm gonna kill you line"...

It just made me dislike Reno even more.
Now I would like to think that the reason she was being so rude and dismissive to Gene was because of the pain meds. But if she's always like that, I wouldn't exactly shed a tear if she gets shoved out an airlock sans spacesuit.
Reno was one of the best things in Discovery. She was like this in season 2 as well.
